April 22, 2011 at 18:09 #351635Great minds think alike IC.
Took 60’s Ambobo last week. Lot to like about his attitude on his last run, and for connections who didn’t give Aintree much thought in the past, they seemed very keen to get him there this year, but he was just too far down the weights. Would have won with a bit to spare in Niche Markets Irish national, but clouted one and got rid of the jock. That one still hurts. Least said about his run last year the better, but I’m really hoping he’s ready to run a big race.
Haven’t bet A New Story yet, but will bet him e/w for this. He is to The Irish National, what State Of Play is to The Grand National.
Worried about Saddlers Storm, primarily for the reasons mentioned by BB, and also have a feeling that Whatuthink could finish off a difficult season for him, by nicking this. You can’t bet em all though!
Good Luck
April 22, 2011 at 19:43 #351652I’ve a feww quid on Beautiful sound to try and recoup my losses after that ‘ride’ Maguire gave it at Cheltenham
!I see Carberry’s booked to ride which i’m delighted about but just wondering why Rusell’s not riding with him beng Gigginstowns retained rider?Presume it’s to do with the weight as someone the height of Davy would i presume have a desperate struggle making it,or is there more to it?
April 22, 2011 at 19:45 #351653If Beautiful Sound gets in and with Carberry up out the back it could be a good day
April 22, 2011 at 19:47 #351655i hope beautiful sound does get in, ive also got Quantitativeeasing

April 22, 2011 at 20:33 #351664Fran the man; I feel your pain about Cheltenham. Beautiful Sounds race was almost as painful as Barizans the year before.
April 23, 2011 at 00:39 #351712The main 10 year trends seem to steer clear of horses that ran in the Grand National. The one that seems to fit the main trends is THe Last Derby (Beautiful Sound not a certain runner and favs have a shocking record). Good luck to all
April 23, 2011 at 08:09 #351731I’m pretty certain beautiful sound will get in,there’s bound to be at least 1 dropout and then if push comes to shove he could take backstage out(if the owners ok it of course) as regards Russell the racingpost has his lowest riding weight in past 12 months as 10st 8 so that covers that,he’d have to starve for a month!

The trends on the Irish National wouldn’t be as reliable because the race falls on different dates every year because it’s run on Easter Monday.
April 23, 2011 at 12:12 #351791Does anybody fancy Hughies Grey? Don’t know much about him, but if topweight runs he’ll have a nice weight at 10.9.
April 23, 2011 at 19:06 #351838Imperial,
this is actually one of the strongest trends race you can find. Last year Bluesea Cracker was one of only two who hit all the trends I use.
This year it looks like Saddlers Storm and Whatuthink have the strongest claims based on trends. I much prefer the latter as I don’t think the former will appreciate the likely fast ground. He’s also in pretty poor form. Where as Whatuthink’s last run was very eye catching.
I think he’s done extremely well to be even running in this considering the disaster he had at Aintree last year when he very nearly had his head kicked off. Would be a fairytale if he won.
Was a very good staying hurdler and I think there is more to come in his chasing career. I took some of the 20s WH were offering this morning.
The Last Derby is also a strong trends pick. The main trend he falls down on is not having run in the past 50 days.
April 24, 2011 at 09:29 #351930I quite like The Last Derby for his value. Saddlers Storm was one of my Grand National picks, but he didn’t get in, so i’ll be looking at him here too, might be too lively for him though.
Synchronized is great value too for 20’s…
April 24, 2011 at 21:40 #352018Bobby Bluebell,
I looked at that trend but decided it may be the weakest, as The Last Derby has won on each occasion it has had a break of 3 months or more so it looks as if it’s actually in it’s favour to have such a break. I’ll stick with it and see what happens.
