Just want to put in a good word for the old boy. He won at a canter today at the ripe old age of 13 for I think the sixteenth time at 14/1, and THAT’S the sort of thing that gives me pleasure in racing :-) He owes nobody anything, you could see how thrilled his connections were after the race. Heartwarming stuff :-)

Southwell must name one of their facilities after him and even a race because he is just a fantastic horse.

Still got a way to go to catch Tempering who won 22 races there for David Chapman.

…or indeed Reg Hollinshead’s entire Suluk, who won a staggering 20 contests at the track in three and a half years up to August 1993 – including 18 wins and three seconds from 22 runs in all-weather hurdle races – and would have managed more besides these had injury not forced him to retire to stud (where he cut little ice) at eight.

Still, yes, Kylkenny is an utterly admirable racehorse; and having seen Hughie Morrison bag both maidens at Kempton the day before I wish I’d chanced my arm on the old boy being similarly able to step up on recent efforts and oblige yesterday. Meh.
