Not a bad ole stick that Blue Point.
June 18, 2019 at 16:08 #1445779Crowley had a front runner in the stall next to him and did the right thing in getting behind the Aussie. However, unfortunately Houtzen stumbled badly out of the gate and McKevoy also kept away from the pack. That meant Battaash was further back in the field than ideal. Again, Crowley did the right thing in switching towards the pack. Unfortunately – because of what happened earlier – he had to use a lot of Battaash’s speed between 2 out and 100 yrds out – and that told in the closing stages. Front runner Soldiars Call doing better than expected also suggesting they didn’t go fast early, so Battaash was making ground while those in front were themselves quickening. Had he been able to run the race in equal fractions I think Battaash would’ve won – even at a course that favours Blue Point.
Value Is EverythingJune 18, 2019 at 16:15 #1445782Yeah I still think Battaash is a better sprinter all round, but I went for Blue Point this year, because he ran so consistently in Meydan and Charlie Appleby said he was so much more relaxed this year. The trouble with betting on sprinters is the lack of consistency and Battaash is always too short, because he doesn’t win often enough.
June 18, 2019 at 16:17 #1445783I thought blue point won cosily in the end myself
I think battaash is the most talented of the two though
