I would certainly describe it as one of my “against my better judgement” bets.
Will see how the ground is shaping up (GoingStick readings, weather, weather forecast) on Monday night….

It's the "Millwall FC" of Point broadcasts: "No One Likes Us - We Don't Care"June 9, 2022 at 05:24 #1601317I is on Twilight Calls 20-1 ew.
June 9, 2022 at 22:33 #1601431I was keen on A Case for You but that one is going elsewhere so Nature Strip would be my pick
Blackbeard to conquer the World
June 9, 2022 at 22:51 #1601432Hope you’re right Mike I’ve got Twilight Calls at 16’s EW and also have him in my TTTF stable.
He has been denied a clear run so many times hope he can fly home on Tuesday and win my favourite race.
Best of luck JacThings turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...June 12, 2022 at 10:35 #1601707Despite Wards comments, I’m quite surprised the big two in the market haven’t flipped yet.
Nature Strip in my view is the best sprinter in the world and the best since Muhaarer to have run at Ascot. The stiff finish will suit him too.
June 12, 2022 at 20:51 #1601749Are nature strip and golden pal going to ruin each others chances?
That for me is the big question
If they go too fast which seems very possible what will stay on and pick up the pieces?
Twilight Calls? Kings Lynn?
This race really is a puzzle
June 12, 2022 at 22:05 #1601755It’s a fascinating race IMO.
As stated I am on Golden Pal ante-post at 3/1, but I’m not particularly confident.
At least his jockey goes into the race on a high having ridden the Belmont winner last night.
The draw could play a part, but without an earlier handicap on the straight course to provide a clue, it’s hard to be certain of any draw bias.
Something could win the Coventry by eight lengths simply because it’s a stone and a half better than anything else in the race.
Competitive Handicaps, where horses seldom have anything if that magnitude in hand, are nearly always the best guide to any draw bias.
The front two in the betting have middle draws and my gut feeling is either far side or stands side will be best.

It's the "Millwall FC" of Point broadcasts: "No One Likes Us - We Don't Care"June 13, 2022 at 15:24 #1601816Have backed Twilight Calls each way @ 15/2. Possible this may favour a closer and if so seems to me TC is the obvious one. Think he would’ve beaten Kings Lynn in the Temple with a clear run and is still improving. Good-firm will be no problem, Candy is in good form and does well with his sprinters at this meeting.
Also backed the Charlie Hills pair at massive odds.
Khaadem @ 31/1 each way (and a little @ 43/1 win only) hasn’t really gone on since his brilliant Stewards Cup victory, but seems more consistent on good-firm. tbh Does seem a bit temperamental nowadays but blinkers and allowed to run at 5f could be the making of him. Ran his best race for some time last time isolated in the centre of the track when winning the Palace House. I know, 18 runners won’t be as easy; but is drawn 4, away from the foreigners, and may be able to dominate his side (if Winter Power doesn’t spoil things).
Stable and now owner companion Equilateral @ 66/1 ew and a little @ 85/1 win only). Can sometimes find less than seems likely but ran well when last seen in Dubai in 2021, winning a Group 2 and only beaten 2 lengths in a Group 1. Not seen since so has a 444 day absence to overcome. However, his form figures the last three times he’s been 100+ days off are 1 2 1, the “2” being in this race in 2021. Just 2 1/4 lengths second to Battaash. So after a break could be the time to catch the enigmatic Equilateral.
Value Is EverythingJune 14, 2022 at 09:32 #1601910No strong fancies so going to swing for the fences with 3 that should be running on
Arecibo 50/1
Equilateral 80/1
Mondammej 150/1All 4 places 1/5 each way
June 14, 2022 at 10:00 #1601914Has Oli Bell been reading my post? Khaadem and Equilateral.
Value Is EverythingJune 14, 2022 at 15:14 #1601973Backed Equalatiral ante-post for the commenwealth a few years back so would put a smile on my face if that won! I reckon the Aussie horse takes over late to win from Golden Pal though, can see that Godolphin horse Man of Promise staying on well too and could be a threat if the top 2 underperform. No bet race for me though too sketchy, but fun to theorise regardless.
Really looking forward to watching this!
June 14, 2022 at 15:37 #1601985NATURE STRIP
Win
Will attempt to make all, hopefully this will set it up for the six furlong horse
MAN OF PROMISE
Each wayJune 14, 2022 at 15:50 #1601989wow
June 14, 2022 at 15:50 #1601990Impressive winner. Twilight Calls happy enough ran his race running on.
June 14, 2022 at 15:51 #1601991Wd winners
June 14, 2022 at 15:51 #1601992Took the commentator on sky sports 2 furlongs to realise golden pal had completely missed the break
That basically handed the race to nature strip
I officially give up betting each way as well, Equilateral 80/1 e/w 4 places finishes 5th
June 14, 2022 at 15:52 #1601993“Wow” indeed.
