    BLUE POINT 12/1

Get the feeling they keep him and Harry Angel apart this season has already won at Ascot before last win there did show lot of speed and Appleby said target be here after Dubai tomorrow so think can add group one in Europe at Royal meeting.

Blue Point won’t get near Battaash over 5F in my opinion. The 5F trip was the reason he didn’t beat Ertijaal first time up this season. With Lady Aurelia in the betting, that’s another speedster in the mix.

I feel that, if Blue Point were truly a 5F horse, he would have been there and done it by now. They tried him at 7F in the Dewhurst and he wasn’t disgraced but the Commonwealth Cup was the target after that race and he ran well enough there.

If he doesn’t win tomorrow it’s probably game over wherever he goes but if I were to pick one of the two to go to the Kings Stand it would be Harry Angel, who could surely be given free rein to blaze over that trip.

Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.

Seeing Battaash, Lady Aurelia and Harry Angel take each other on over 5F would be a thing of beauty.

Battaash wins everything, in my opinion. I think he’s the best horse on the planet. He’s available at a best price of 5.00, but as long as Lady Aurelia turns up he won’t be much shorter than that on the day.

They didn’t keep Blue Point and Harry Angel apart last season
I suppose it makes sense if they did run Harry Angel at 5 furlongs as he was still free over the 6f. I’d imagine the plan would be 6f to start with though.

I was as gutted as a kipper that Blue Point was withdrawn from the Al Quoz with a bit of blood on his nose. Having been on him months ago at 13/2, I was bleeding from the eyes.

I not sure I have seen them bleeding from the nose before the race, it’s something that normally happens in the race itself.

I remember Barton Bank bleeding and pulling up in the RSA. However, I can’t recall another flat horse pulled out so late for a bloody nose.

“Spherical Objects”, is all I can say.

Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.

Is it bad that I’m still annoyed that the jockey on Lady Aurelia eased her down last year to deny my bet on her to break the track record at 25/1. I put that up on here months before the race and was absolutely gutted after (despite the win on her being a nice enough return) because she was eased down. I’m a bit bitter about it even now I have to say. I nailed the fast ground prediction after an especially hot summer, fancied her for the race and to set a rattling pace off the front, for a few bookies to make a market for me, only to be denied in the cruellest of ways to have victory snatched away like that.

Anyway.. I don’t have anywhere near the same confidence in her at this point compared to last season. Though I wouldn’t want to be against her either at this point. It looks wide open even now.

According to Racing Post, next target of Blue Point is Chairman’s Prize in Shatin on 29 Apr.

It looks strange if Blue Point runs in HK before Royal Ascot.

It’s a strange prep indeed Patrick. The trainer did confirm that Royal Ascot was next after Hong Kong though.

I think the Kings Stand is the wrong race for Blue Point though. He couldn’t go with Ertijaal in the early stages over 5F and Bataash is way faster than that horse in my opinion.

Blue Point is shaping like one of those horses who will always be stymied by bad luck and bad placement and you can just see him turning up in the Kings Stand only to fail to see which way the real 5F horses went. Meanwhile something that has finished behind Blue Point in the past goes out and wins the 6F Jubilee.

Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.

Is it possible Steve for Blue Point to run in the Diamond Jubiller himself? I can’t rememebr if he qualifies or not.

Though he’s not my cup of tea. Never has been really.

I hope he can run in it MOM, I backed him at 16/1 for it. I did Harry Angel at 5/1 for that race last year but bearing in mind their form was quite closely tied I thought there was value in Blue Point at 16/1, that was, of course, in the expectation that he won the Al Quoz and they firmed up his target as the Jubilee.

He’s as low as 8/1 for the Jubilee in places and I am sure he would have been shorter had he won the Al Quoz. Harry Angel is my main bet though, I think he has a shade more early pace than Blue Point.

Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.

I actually think Blue Point is crying out for 5f. He travels so unbelievably well in his races, but doesn’t quite see it out over 6f. Visually he looks like 5f wouldn’t be a problem, but I don’t think he would ever get the beating of Battaash.

Watching this race, it seems impossible to think Blue Point would be better at 5F:-

It screams that 6F would be better.

I thought it was a weak effort from the saddle that day but the main problem was that Ertijaal had the toe to create a lead that was big enough to hang on as his stamina started to run out and Blue Point started to catch up.

I think if Blue Point were all speed they would surely have tried him at 5F before. I reckon they should concentrate on beating the 6F horses first, before getting ideas about taking on top notch speedsters over 5F.

Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.

Blue Point finished last in Shatin today. Slowly out of the gate, he took on Peniaphobia and the pace seems too quick.

Maybe 6F is not his trip?

Bad draw, having to be pushed up to contest the lead and being out wide are probably reasons to forgive him.

He’ll be thereabouts probably in the UK, probably finding one or two too good.

Happy days with baattttaaaash winning today, clearly wasn’t fit as you could tell by the slight drift/run/trainer comments post-race but class prevailed and got him the victory, will be a lot better come ascot only problem being be very wide track which could cause the horse to idle. Will be fascinating to see who front runs with both Battaash and lady auralia in the field. I expect battttaaaash to be the better horse but just could get caught out by ascot and the fact that auralia seems to love it there. Can’t wait for the race cooooomeeee on baaaatttash

As times gone on, I’m feeling far more confident in Lady A than I did when I posted on this thread on April 3rd.

I already love her for what she did last year and she owes me nothing but I didn’t want that to cloud my judgement and back her for that. However, with the hot summer we’ve had and the vibes from the Wesley Ward camp being excellent, I’m coming round to the idea that she’s gonna do it again.
