Tom Cooper has said that ForPaddy will be stepped up, and will run in the KG. He looks like he was outpaced in top class 2m/2m 1/2 grade 1’s stepping him up in trip could be the making of him.

23"s on the machine is worth the risk,Forpady is a serious horse john!

If you’re using a calculator to help with your spelling, MRW, you really are in trouble!

Long Run will win the King George and Joncol will rule Cheltenhan by winning gold cup.

Agree that Forpady would be a fascinating runner, long thought he’s pretty high class.

It would be folly to dismiss Kauto Star ahead of this year’s King George – especially round a course where he excels.

Few would expect him to put up a repeat of last year’s terrific display but he remains the one they all have to beat.

Of the rest, I consider Long Run the most likely usurper. His win in the Feltham marked him out as really good prospect.

I’m going to hang my hat on Planet of Sound.

Going right handed seems to really sort him out and seems to help cut out the silly mistakes, without which he becomes a really quality horse.

He is going to be aimed at this and still seems really progressive. There seems a lot more to come from him and he will only get better for me. His season will be about this which offers a big plus.

Can’t help but be impressed with his run in the Punchestown Gold Cup. Travelled well and stayed on with the step up really suiting him.

I agree, regarding Planet of Sound.

I really fancied him at Punchestown; I knew he’d get the trip, but jumping a stride slower over the three miles, and the inprovement it made to his jumping was the clincher. All being well, he’ll go there with a chance.

Think Somersby could prove a big danger.

Looking forward to how this one pans out now!
I’m sticking with Planet of Sound!

Must agree that 25s is WAY too big for Cooldine though.
Strange season from him really, was expecting better but think he was unlucky really.
Needed the run in the Lexus and was unlucky in the Hennessy, Joncol really comes into his own in those conditions, more so than even him.
But then he didn’t finish the season how he could of..so a few questions to answer maybe but no way a 25/1 shot.

I think 3m seems fine so shouldn’t be an issue here, but i’d be worried that an extended 3 might be asking a little too much?

Planet of Sound was terribly knocked about when he had that bad fall last season; surely he’ll be better this year with a bit more time to get over it. Never think of the Hobb’s team as trainers of King George horses, though, although dear old Monkerhostin gave it a good shot a couple of times.

Have to agree about better to come from him. I think part of his run at Cheltenham could possibly be put down to the fall but I think just as much can be put down to the those factors that Punchestown cancelled out for him.

As for the Hobbs team, I think it has been just as much about having a proper King George horse since Monkerhostin as much as anything.
If Planet of Sound ends being being half the horse, or as admired, he’ll have done alright!

History has a habit of repeating itself.

When Desert Orchid’s reign at Kempton came to an end after 4 wins it was the 6 year old french horse The Fellow who won. Who is waiting in the wings now?

However for that to happen Kauto needs to be beaten.
He will still be only 10 years old and has shown no signs of deteriorating and if Wayward Lad aged 10 and Desert Orchid plus Edredon Bleu can win aged 11 then there is every reason to believe that Kauto can win yet again. People have very short memories in racing, last year the nearest any horse could get to him was beaten a distance so grab some of the 9/4 and have a saver on Long Run.
