Does anyone know the likelihood of Mandesha lining up for this?
I felt she ran an eyecatching race behing Mountain High, throwing away her chance by being very slow away then pulling all throughout the first half of the race, only to run on well at the end from an impossible position considering the amount of energy expended earlier on.
It looks to be quite a poor renewal with only Authorized or Dylan Thomas looking like a potential winner of the remaining entrants.
With Authorized’s participation also in the balance, 20 on BF is a massive price imho.
July 16, 2007 at 12:17 #108099Mandesha is still quoted in most ante-post lists.
I know three year olds have not had a very good winning record in the last 10 years or so, but Authorized and Soldier Of Fortune (if he runs and the ground comes up soft) must have outstanding chances.

It would be great to see her run in that race. She is priced up on all the ante post markets I’ve seen so it would appear she, at this moment in time, is still an intended runner. Excellent ew value at around 12/1.
My fancy for the race would be Maraahel – a typical Sir Michael Stoute improver. He has an excellent strike rate at Ascot (2 wins and a place from 4 runs). His only unplaced effort at the course came in last years far superior renewal (Hurricane Run, Electrocutionist and Heart’s Cry all involved) when he was 5th of 6. Sir Michael has a good line through these with some of his other horses and he’s around a 10/1 shot.
I hope Authorized doesn’t run. I just think running the horse in two races so soon after his Epsom effort won’t do the horse any good. If Peter wanted to get a race into him before the Arc then I would prefer to see him go for the Juddmonte.
July 16, 2007 at 16:14 #108147I hope Authorized DOES run. Why wrap the horse in cotton wool he hasn’t been overcooked by any means. Various horses have taken in the Eclipse and King George over the years some of whom ran in the Guineas too as well as the Derby.
Authorized is a racehorse – race him!!
He’ll be a half a stone better horse over twelve furlongs would have to be on the shortlist.

lmao at that, I don’t think even Stoutey himself would claim that good old Maraahel is an "improver".

I wouldn’t say the horse is improving now.
However, his two biggest career victories were obtained as an older horse – the Hardwicke Stakes at Royal Ascot in 2006 / 07 as a 5YO and 6YO repectively.

I’d like to see the horse run before the Arc. But I’d prefer to see him take in the Juddmonte.
July 16, 2007 at 18:04 #108167if authorised dosent run then sadly the old pulling power of the king george seems lost forever
July 16, 2007 at 21:06 #108179PCH has always intended running Authorized in the KG but won’t if he feels that his colt hasn’t recovered from his Sandown exertions , which fair enough. Horses recover from races in their own time, and Peter is only doing what he thinks is right for the horse, which is always the best route to take.
July 17, 2007 at 16:32 #108254IMO They should be running him in the KG. He undoubtedly has the pace to win a group 1 over 10f but he would have a better chance in the KG should he turn up there. Sit him just off the pace and then boot him home 2f out… Simple… I really hope that they don’t fall foul of the same decisions motivators owners did.
July 17, 2007 at 16:46 #108256Authorized doesnt need time to rest, they should just run him in the KG.The problem is they dont want to run him in the KG incase he gets beat,if he had won the eclispe they would not of been one mention of him not running in the kg.So its better for connections to find a soft race for him, then to let him run in the arc and if he is beaten in the arc then its no big deal, because remember what he did in the derby.
July 17, 2007 at 18:20 #108281newyork, Im so glad we have authorizeds stable boy here to tell us the reason for hestations over the king george.
Obviously I dont know you are the stable boy but I assume you must have some such connection in order to tell us all with such authority why the horse may not run!

You could be right, you could be wrong, but it could also be that Peter chose the Eclipse route over the Irish Derby for his colt because it gave Authorized that important extra week after Epsom to recover. But choosing the route he did may present a problem because of the relatively close proximity (timewise) between the Eclipse and the King George. And before anyone says that plenty of horses have run in both the Eclipse and the KG (plenty haven’t, too), Authorized isn’t any of those horses and has his own unique make up.
July 17, 2007 at 20:01 #108296LOL no im not authorized stable boy nor do i have any connection to the stable BENDBD. Before the eclispe PCH was as certain as can be that after that race authorized was then going on to the king george,Then the horse is beaten and now connections are not sure, the only difference now is he has been beaten and they dont really want to run him in the king george because if he is beaten in there he becomes just another derby winner.

I can’t believe PCH is running scared of anything but time will tell.

PCH says a lot of things, including there would be no excuses if he got beat in the Eclipse….
July 17, 2007 at 21:51 #108311I make Authorised a lay at current odds given his hard race in the Eclipse. If he does run, I make him a bigger lay for the Arc- 3yos who dance every dance in the Summer rarely turn up fresh enough to win at Longchamp.
