Thermistocles isn’t quoted yet, but I will give him a chance here. I hope he’s a good price tomorrow. For now, the 16/1 nrnb for Mount Ida for me.
February 24, 2021 at 10:41 #1525132Jerrysback or Plan of Attack for me right now, but I haven’t bet either yet.
February 24, 2021 at 22:50 #1525247With the ban on Amateur riders at Cheltenham. Would races like this take place this year.
Snippet from Racing Post.
Amateur jockeys will not be permitted to ride at this season’s Cheltenham Festival due to the UK government’s restrictions on grassroots sport lasting until March 29.
Amateur riders are traditionally part of the fabric of the Cheltenham Festival with three races – the National Hunt Chase, Kim Muir Handicap Chase, and the St James’s Place Hunters’ Chase – reserved solely for them, and the leading amateurs also compete with professionals in the meeting’s other races.
You've got to accentuate the positive.
Eliminate the negative.
Latch on to the affirmative.
Don't mess with mister in between.February 25, 2021 at 00:13 #1525258Kev, I hope you’re right, as got plenty on already. Certainly my biggest bet of the week, and I’m happy that it’s all at the 25’s, but that’s without the NRNB safety net, which I’m never that comfortable with. Nearly as uncomfortable with his entry for The Midlands National.
Fingers crossed though, and unusually for me at this stage, even with the others on the shortlist, I’m sticking with him alone.

Could write a book about this horse honestly. Beat 46 horses home the last two years and each time bumped into one of these Irish plot jobs. First time was getting 4 lbs off Any Second Now who just happened to have the handbrake off. What is he rated now 160

Last year bumped into another in Milan Native getting 4 lbs who just so happened to have a 7 lb claimer on board in an Amateurs race, what’s all that about ? He is rated 149 probably with another half a stone up his sleeve.
Anyhow, looks like they are giving them some of the medicine this time. Down to 135 and Alex Edwards taking off another 3 lbs
March 16, 2021 at 16:15 #1530001My top figures for this race are:
Almazhar Garde 165
Morning Vicar 164
Storm Control 154
Double Shuffle 153
Another Venture 153All the top three were pulled up or behind last time after winning previously. At best they have a decent chance and I would hope break from racing will have freshened them. Top three against the field at decent odds.
March 16, 2021 at 17:06 #1530041Annoyingly Time To Get Up now a non runner, has couple of entries at Kempton on Saturday instead.
He was the horse most looking forward to after seeing him win at Wincanton.March 16, 2021 at 21:36 #1530116I spent a bit of time with this race yesterday as the market seemed a little undercooked. Backed Mount Ida at 14s on the basis she is likely to go off favourite?
Also figured Crievehill and Sizing At Midnight were both overpriced at 33s. Crievehill ran a big race here 2 years ago (good to soft) to finish 4th and is back down to the same mark after spending the year running on unsuitable ground.
Sizing At Midnight was in the process of running a big race when coming down in the Badger Beers and then never went a yard in heavy ground on the next day. He looks tantalisingly handicapped now the ground has come in his favour.I’d expect Crievehill in particular to drift further on the day.

March 16, 2021 at 22:12 #1530128Welcome to TRF Danny, and I hope your first post with Sizing at Midnight is a winning one.
I’m disappointed that Time To Get Up didn’t declare, as he was my biggest Antepost of the week, but having greened out, it was a bit of a relief too. My other big bet was Escaria Ten, and NRNB saved me there too.
Maybe an omen to leave it this year, but just love the race, so back in again.
I think Sizing at Midnight would have won at Wincanton but for that fall, and think he should easily outrun his odds.
I’ll also chance Cloudy Glen. Brutal last time, but he just caught my eye in The Welsh National, and though not as strong a fancy as Midnight, happy to have him on side.

March 16, 2021 at 23:12 #1530146Can’t see past Shantou Flyer with those course figures.
March 16, 2021 at 23:26 #1530148Vintage Clouds a timely reminder of how important that can be, particularly in a weak(?) renewal. And Cobden for Maxwell must be one of the greatest jockey upgrades in Festival history.

March 16, 2021 at 23:45 #1530156Stuck with Mount Ida here, and she’s shortening since the fav as defected. Wouldn’t have minded seeing Gainford claim back 7 and pretty much give her her mares allowance back lol. but Kennedy is very good so not to worry!
