An extra AW meeting has been sanctioned this Saturday for Kempton.
Now its good for AW fans but do the organisers have an A-Z on them by some chance.
Ayr will attempt to race this Weekend and down South Sandown,Wincanton and Lingfield already have meetings although it looks like Lingfield could be the only one racing.
So why sanction Kempton, ive nothing against the place but the fact is you can see it from the stands of Sandown and if Sandown was going to be off then people would go to Lingfield.
Why wasnt Wolverhampton put on as people from across the country can get to it quite easily and now Northern racegoers have no meeting at all on Saturday to go to.
And if Sandown do race i can gurantee Kempton will be totally deserted apart from the odd hermit.

Kempton and Sandown are only 6 or 7 miles apart. Join the dots …

Given its high propensity for defeating most of the coldest snaps, a replacement jumps fixture up there would have made more appeal.
Granted, that would mean two Scottish fixtures on if Ayr did somehow survive, but we’d still be talking two courses an appreciable distance apart compared to the two all-weather venues likely to be in operation on the day.

Couldn’t give two hoots for Kempton AW myself, but given that it’s C4 Racing’s remit is to provide a round-the-year racing programme on Saturdays, that strikes me as good thinking, though I’d agree with Reet Hard’s point elsewhere that provision for transferring Sandown to Cheltenham would have been infinitely preferable. Though it is of course by no means certain Cheltenham would be suitible come Saturday

It’s been very chilly in the East of Scotland for the last couple of days. In Dunfermline the frost hasn’t come out of the ground since Tuesday. It has been a bit warmer today, but the forecast for the Musselburgh area early next week is not promising, with daytime temperatures due to hover around freezing. If the forecast is near the mark then I’d say it’s odds against the meeting taking place.

P.S. As regards the planned meeting at Kempton, it seems clear to me that the general view is that Sandown will fall to the weather, so there’s unlikely to be a clash. Anyway, like it or not, the purpose of the meeting would be to supply a meeting for the Levy income and, for better or worse, that’s how racing is financed.
