Miller and Carter is the steakhouse of choice for peasants who haven’t had the pleasure of dining at Hawksmoor!

Once you’ve been to Hawksmoor there can be no doubt as to where any self respecting Carnivore gets his beefy fix!

    Thanks for that, TC.

Having perused the online menu, I’d say dining there is the equivalent of getting approximately 7/2 about a 7/1 chance.

But if I ever want to be ripped off, I certainly now know where to go.

But then I’m very sentimental about money, I hate to say goodbye to any bank note and I consider Miller & Carter overpriced.

Looking forward to the Kauto Star, it’s a real Tournedos Rossini of a contest.

Giovinco for me. I think Stay Away Fay is better then Hermes Allen and the French raider is difficult to predict.

    Giovinco 5/2

If this race was being run over 2m6f on Heavy ground round Auteuil then Il Est Francais would be long odds-on for me.

    But it isn’t.

It’s 3m (new trip), on possibly quicker ground than he’s run on, round Kempton (right-handed).

If he’s just as superb under all those different conditions, they might not see which way he went because this is a banging good horse.

    But it’s an “if.”

And don’t give me any of that baloney about a longer trip on quicker ground being equivalent to a shorter trip in the mud because 40-odd years of following this game has consistently told me that’s simply hardly ever the case.

God can he jump – his speed across his fences reminded me of Mill House, will like to see the new jumping data on this one.

    Next year’s King George anyone?

Too bad, the KG isn’t tomorrow. The winner might have won that as well…..

When Mark Johnson tried to show us his French skills he failed, imo.
It’s not “Il est magnificent”, but “il est magnifique”.
Monsieur Davies, feel free to correct me, if I’m wrong.

Was a good one to highlight ap, I hope you bet him, as it would be a shame to have a winner like that go with nobody on here betting him

I didn’t back him, but enjoyed that just as much as I would have done with a grand on! It’s my age kicking in, but he reminded me very much of a chaser that Michael Dickinson trained, called The Mighty Mac. That one, who raced in the early to mid 80’s, had a characteristic of attacking his fences, but almost losing interest rounding the bends. Then he’d see the next line of fences and set off again.

Whether it was the horse, or James Reveley conserving energy, that run today was so similar. I doubt if we’ll see him here again before next Xmas, as his main target will be the French Gold Cup in May.

Is he another Allaho, trip too far for a Gold Cup? Dunno.

I backed him at 2/1 as I thought he’d be more like 1/2 if the race had been in the Auteuil mud.

But he’s made light of the quicker ground plus longer trip and smashed standard by 2.7 seconds.

He’s one of those rare great jumpers who takes off a stride sooner than expected and gains not one but two lengths in the air.

Not seen a chaser jump like that in years – this one is exceptional.

This quote coming from you, sir. It’s better than Knighthood….
