Racing Post reported today:
KALDERON, winner of 15 of his 45 races and a graded race winner on the Flat and over hurdles and fences, has been put down after complications arose as he tried to recover from injuries sustained in a fall at Punchestown in October.
Tom Hogan, who trained the eight-year-old to win eight of his races, said on Monday: "Unfortunately, Kalderon dislocated the plate that was inserted in his fractured ulna (elbow) after his fall at Punchestown.
"It happened when he was getting to his feet in his box and as the fractured was re-opened as a result, there was nothing that could be done to make him comfortable.
"He was a good horse and avery versatile one. After his operation the vets said it was 50-50 whether he would make it back racing. He was recuperating very well and until this happened we were quite hopeful that he would be okay."
