July 28, 2014 at 23:52 #486710Can’t make it to Kate’s home in Devon on Wednesday this year to deliver birthday card, so it will be in the post later today (Tuesday)
I doubt she’s there much and that doesn’t matter, but I do enjoy a walk on the small beach at the foot of the cliffs that her magnificent home stands on.I can feel the inspiration she got for some of the tracks on Aerial by sitting near her boat house and taking in the sights and sounds.
Happy Birthday Kate and enjoy your upcoming residency at Hammersmith x

Here’s a piece about Kate’s Tour of Life in ’79. It’s by Graeme Thomson author of Under the Ivy.

August 31, 2014 at 13:38 #489549Newton Abbot was heaving yesterday. Deaf Jon hit the bookies in the bollocks and collected on every race apart from the Azza one in which was the only one I followed him in on.

We both started well and it was Jon who followed me in, in the first race where we backed Sinndar’s Man without the hotpot at 5/4 and managed to barter one of the rails guys to give us 7/1 for the each/way bet. The horse ran on well after an iffy start and looks one for next time out.

Jon put me onto Azza the other week when the horse fall and we went in again to recoup our losses but she was just got touched off by the shortest of margins for the place.

Deaf Jon bagged the winners of the next two races……..

Whilst I was taking photo’s of my losers.

Martin Hill the local trainer only had the one runner Y A Bon who summed my betting day up by missing getting into the place position by one. I should of know better as I have noticed that Hadden Frost seems to ride a fair bit for Hill but Johnson was riding instead whilst Frost was on the winner Decoy.
