We have this argument every 6 months which says it all about the problems they’ve got and Don’t Push It is a horse that epitomises it…
He’s gone from pushing Denman all way in a novice chase to tailing off in handicaps, not good is it?
December 3, 2008 at 16:09 #194045I think JP is a great owner; what I like best is the way that he looks after his retired horses [ok he’s got the money to do it]….it must be horse heaven to end your days at Martinstown, and I understand that the public are very welcome to visit them as well.
December 3, 2008 at 16:49 #194059By the way some of them run, they seem to think that they have already retired when they reach jonjos
The Dont Push It example is a good one, not least because it comes as no suprise. Simply put, a similar downward career curve with a talanted horse would raise eyebrows (even though it does happen from time to time) at Nichols or King. We just expect it at Jackdaws castle dont we?
Its an old debate now.
December 3, 2008 at 17:44 #194073I reckon they should turn Jackdaws into one big home for retired racehorses- it would save punters thousands. FOF could tell racing stories to a captive audience at a fiver a pop.
December 3, 2008 at 17:47 #194076If punters are loosing thousands on Jackdaws horses should they not have the cop on to stop them selves. John Jo does as he is told and then JP decides with Frank Berry wether the horse trys or not.
"Not Today T"
Anybody that thinks otherwise is gullible.December 3, 2008 at 17:53 #194079FOF could tell racing stories to a captive audience at a fiver a pop
Alternatively he could be used by US forces to tell his stories to uncooperative Iraqui insurgents….
And he would stop once they started to blab…
but would amnesty international approve?
December 3, 2008 at 17:57 #194081personally I’d prefer a spot of waterboarding.
December 4, 2008 at 04:41 #194190Wasnt it something about the land being contaminated Firefox?
I’m no Jonjo hater so I tend not to get involved in these threads but the demise of Black Jack Ketchum still baffles me. Went from looking like a horse from the gods to struggling past Faasel in less than a year, sad to witness.
December 4, 2008 at 07:32 #194201old chestnuts roastin on an open fire, jackdaws nippin at your nose.
I see the season of goodwill is lost on you Clive.

December 4, 2008 at 07:55 #194203I like the Fanshawe’s ‘Hungry for Success’ logo..perhaps they should send that to Jonjo as well!
…or just ‘Hungry’?
December 4, 2008 at 09:55 #194210I’ve read some garbage in my time on here and it just keeps coming.
Getting rid of Jonjo? Sorreeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!! not going to happen
Frank and JP call Jonjo and say….we want you to try with this but stop that one……..
Biggest crock of sh*t yet.He ruins horses??? Don’t Push It being the latest victim.
Ok lets lookat what Jonjo has done with Don’t Push It
He’s ran the horse 14 times……lets deduct his 1strun as it was only to get him some experience……he’s had 2 exploretory runs over hurdles, he fell 2 out in the Arkle He was beaten at the Aintree meeting after Cheltenham.
For those that don’t know that’s the same meeting Cheltenham winners one after the other failed miserbaly at. He all but won 6 races on the trot but for coming up against the best horse in training Denman .
Oh how happy many an owner would be to win one race let alone 6?
There are two ways of looking at a glass of water it can be half full or hallf empty.
Has any of you Jonjo knockers ever thought that maybe he has won 6 outof 14 races with a horse that might have won nothing elsewhere? No you just expect him to win everything out there whether the horse is up to it or not………..Kauto Star has been beaten 3 times on the trot does that make PN a bad trainer? and MWDS couldn’t win a thing last season did Alan King ruin him……You can take cheap shots at any trainer in the country but all it does is show you others you have no idea about the problems facing trainers like Jonjo day in day out…..so if you want to make an idiot of yourself be my guest and knock yourself out.
I’m not going to waste any more time on the merits of Jono as a trainer or anyone other trainer for that matter. They all have their ups and downs.
JP has sent a good horse to Jonjo because he has faith in the man. End of story.
December 4, 2008 at 12:33 #194222So do we ignore your recent criticism of Emma Lavelle’s handling of Crackaway Jack?
Colin
December 4, 2008 at 13:56 #194233There is so much garbage being posted in this thread that I thought about addressing some of it, but now I shan’t bother.
So, now a virus is breaking down Jonjo’s horses and making once promising horses run like selling platers forevermore? Yeah, right-o…
December 4, 2008 at 14:36 #194238Has any of you Jonjo knockers ever thought that maybe he has won 6 outof 14 races with a horse that might have won nothing elsewhere?
No. That would never have occured to me
I’m not going to waste any more time on the merits of Jono as a trainer
I cant see what the problem is…that shouldnt take very long
December 4, 2008 at 15:14 #194253If JP’s concern was winners rather than an old-fashioned and admirable sense of loyalty to a man he owes a debt of gratitude to when a decent jockey but is an indecent trainer, then he’d send all his JJ horses Fanshawe’s away and instruct him to stop fannying about on the Flat.
JF is a damn capable NH trainer given the chance
December 4, 2008 at 18:38 #194295So do we ignore your recent criticism of Emma Lavelle’s handling of Crackaway Jack?
Colin
There is a huge difference Colin between giving an opinion and asking other members for ther opinion and being downright insulting and sarcastic about a trainers ability.
Emma has been training for around 9 years and this is probably the best horse she’s ever had…To ask if shemay be over keen to prove to herself Crack Away Jack is truly a CH horse is not saying she is a bad trainer nor is it calling her stupid idiotic names.
I happen to think if the horse was with Nicky Henderson for example he would not be running again as soon and perhaps she should take a leaf out of his book.
At the same time she did produce him 100% spot on for Chelters last year so it’s hard to critisise her.
By all means challenge me on the floor if you disagree with me but please stop trying to be smart by picking me up on insignificant dribble mate…….it bores me to
December 4, 2008 at 20:09 #194326It is an interesting virus too…because it is clearly in incubation for the first few runs of a horses career (or in the case of Mountain two i think it was) and then suddenly breaks out….after which they are never the same again
