That was some ride Ryan Moore just gave Valiant. A perfect example of how to ride within these whip rules. Class.

June 15, 2012 at 14:35 #408170Ok – you guys are going to think I am nuts.
It is definitely straight jacket time.
I have far too much time on my hands today!
I have just backed
Bullet Train
ew at 250-1 for the QA with Victor Chandler.
You will all think I have money to burn but I was just looking at Oddschecker and saw the VC price compared to all the others who go 100 or 150-1. Then I looked at the field for the race. How many will run? How many will be suited by the ground? How much better are the rest of the field outside of Frankel and Excel? (assuming SS and SYT don’t run).
LTO Bullet Train actually ran really well and finished 4th in the Lockinge. He thrashed Windsor Palace who is 100-1. Premier Loco, Side Glance, Indomito, Red Jazz and Helmut are all very close to BT’s rating and several of them have run very poorly recently. Worthadd is a bit better admittedly.
We know BT will run. He is likely to have the run of the race. He is 250-1! Who is going to finish 3rd?
A bit of fun – why not?

June 15, 2012 at 14:48 #408173Oh go on then, I’m in. Good luck.
June 15, 2012 at 16:49 #408176You will all think I have money to burn
And VTC joining you eh,whatever gave you that idea?
I’ll take
Red Jazz
at 40/1 1/5 odds 1st 3,he wont mind the ground!
Frankel
wont be unduly punished in order to win by 10 lengths Joni, not on soft ground! He’ll be ridden tenderly I’m afraid so you can throw your 10/1 vouchers in the bin now!

Have you EVER seen him ridden tenderly Gord? This horse doesnt do tender!

True enough Joni but i just feel Soft ground is not his ideal going so a ‘Comfortable’ victory of the usual 4 lengths will suffice,he’d have to be ridden right out to win by 10 lengths, something you wouldn’t bet against on firmer ground should they really want to.He’s never had a hard race and Tuesday wont be the first,he’ll get that when he steps up in trip………FINALLY!
June 15, 2012 at 22:31 #408201The Prince of Wales would be a cracker if Cirrhus runs but I read this morning he is more likely to run in France. I would have backed him at 5-2 but without him there should be some value as SYT is a short priced fav as usual though heaven knows why. I don’t like Carlton House in this race. People always criticise poor little Frankel for pulling too hard but did you watch the Brigadier Gerard!!!?? Ok it was his first run for a while but Ryan Moore almost had his arms pulled out. Not for me. The one I like and am a big fan of is
Farhh
at 12-1. I backed this one a few weeks ago when he hacked up off a big weight in a handicap and he looked a Group horse that day. Conditions will suit and the 12’s will look bigger if CDA doesnt turn up.
A couple of negatives – I expected him to be slightly bigger in price for one so inexperienced and his stable are completely rubbish this year once again. I havent backed him yet as I want to see if he is entered in anything else but he is definitely one to look out for.
When I read your post this morning Joni, I stopped after the Queen Anne piece to "get on" myself. Now see we agree on the POW too. Where did you see Cirrus is more likely to run in France? Judging by his betfair price (shorter than bookmakers at the moment) he should be coming over. I’ve just taken the 5/2 so hope so! Should start favourite. Farhh hasn’t had much racing and may well be fragile, so don’t want to back him yet. No jockey booked either, despite Barca already on City Style. Probably back Farhh nearer race day. Far from being disappointed with the price of 12/1 Joni; if taking part I expect him to be no bigger than 8/1.
Value Is EverythingJune 16, 2012 at 06:59 #408222It was in yesterday’s Racing Post Ginge. They were saying how Reliable Man is likely to be the only raider from France as CDA looks like being held back for that race at the end of the month (is it the Grand Prix De Paris?). Trainer is speaking to owner and decision expected over the weekend.
You are right that he is shorter on Betfair but not sure how relaible it is as very little has been matched. I see they still have SYT at 15.5 for the QA when he should really be 1000 as he is not going to run.
Like you I will wait with Farhh but also probably with CDA.

June 16, 2012 at 11:16 #408276If I am Fred who is my Ginger? Don’t answer that! Alas I will be in the cheap seats but of course I will be cheering the Bullet into third.
If anyone can make profit from today good luck to them. I will be watching Cecil’s newcomer Checkpoint in the maiden at Sandown. He has been working well for some time apparently – the ground would be the worry tho so no bet.
Have to say I am confused at all the money for Carlton House. I keep thinking "if Treasure Beach was running in this race, what price would he be?" TB has beaten him twice.

Value Is EverythingJune 17, 2012 at 12:08 #408360Any thoughts on CHIGUN at Salisbury i think this horse will win i know you like horses from this trainer.
June 17, 2012 at 13:14 #408367He’s been well supported Darren and ran a sound race a couple of weeks ago pulling clear with another and looking slightly unlucky to lose. He handles the ground and has a favourites chance. There is a decent Hamdan owned horse up against him though so I wouldnt personally be going overboard at 15-8. In short he should win but I’ll let him run.

Wins by the proverbial Think Ian Mongan is one of the most under rated jocks in the business
June 17, 2012 at 21:36 #408426Completely agree on Emulous Joni. Prices around 5/2 – 3/1 seem more than fair. She has to lump a penalty for winning a Group 1 but I think she can handle that no problem.
I make her my NAP of the week.
July 31, 2012 at 20:02 #408472I’ll wait to see if they are doing any specials on winning distance as I have done well with that so far this year with Frankel.
Just saw these odds on Corals website:-
Frankel to win by:-
Frankel to win by less than 4 lengths 9/2
Frankel to win by 4 to 7.5 lengths 9/4
Frankel to win by 8 to 11.5 lengths 9/4
Frankel to win by 12 lengths or over 11/4Bizarrely, I think at the odds I’d be tempted to bet on less than 4 lengths, hope he is held up a bit longer than usual and wins eased down. Probably wins now before the others have "Jumped the last" LOL
Funnily enough I think you would be quite wise to do that Steve. Teddy said today that they were using tomorrow as a stepping stone to the Juddmonte and it will be interesting to see if Tom keeps hold of him for a bit longer. It won’t be playing to his strengths as he is a horse who can gallop full out for three furlongs but it could be an option. The other reason is that Farhh, unlike Excelebration, will not be slowing down in the final half furlong so it really depends on when TQ lets him go. To be honest none of those prices really interest me so I will probably just watch and dribble as usual!

July 31, 2012 at 20:08 #408474Yes Joni!! Henry’s got them flying!! Chacha looked the best horse in the field on paper and proved it in great style, nice price 11/4 well done, took the 7/4 the morning so still days.
Noble Mission is developing in a lovely horse, game as you like and very consistent, looked to have the form in the book and so it proved. 14/1 for The Leger, might be worth an e/w dabble!?
Enjoy the day tomorrow, sure Frankel will put on a show as ever, let’s worry about 10f another day and just enjoy the best horse in The World in glorious action.
Thanks Pants! Yes as satisfactory a double as I can remember since Twice Over and Frankel on Champions Day two years ago.
Delighted for Noble Mission and yes I think he is a credible ew bet for the Leger. I only watched it an hour ago when I got in from working and I thought TQ had gone too soon. The horse travelled so powerfully but I felt he could have held on to him a bit longer as I thought he was going to get outstayed. To his credit he battled all the way to the line and 14’s is a decent price for the Leger I think.
Chachamaidee won as I expected her to and she is a lovely mare who is definitely suited to this track and trip. I see she went off at 5-4 so that 11-4 feels REALLY good.
Also my 20’s about TQ winning top jock is now looking good so all in all just about the perfect day. And we still have YOU KNOW WHO to look forward to tomorrow!!!!

July 31, 2012 at 21:02 #408487I think my mate Cecil will have a big week and with a few early prices knocking around I have already had 3 bets.
I was waiting to see if Strong Suit would run in the Lennox and he isnt so it looks plain sailing for
Chachamaidee
. I think 7f is her optimum trip and, as long as they don’t get too much rain, I think she will win well. I have taken 11-4.
I have also taken 11-4 about
Noble Mission
in the Gordon. Clearly he has Michelango to beat but he has already beaten him once and, whilst of course Michelango was making his debut that day, we have already seen that JG has his horses very fit first time out so is not certain to turn the form round.
Nice work Joni,I do think
Noble Mission
is improving mentally and a tilt at the St Leger would not be beyond him,the course would suit him perfectly as Tom could just sit and wait for as long as he wants,it would certainly make up for
Dusyantors
defeat a mere 16yrs ago, that one still hurts!
