Very nice Jac. She is definitely one to look forward to. Today there is another filly that I have been waiting to see again. Steve Caution put me on to Antonoe after her maiden romp, a race which couldn’t have worked out better. She finished down the field on her last start but came back with an injury so it was easily explained. She looked a million dollars in her 2 previous races and I am hoping she is back to her best today. The 7-2 looks well worth taking.

    £100ew Antonoe – 7-2 4.40 Chantilly placed

So it looks a very good day tomorrow at Sandown and I am hoping to go if I can swing it at home! Not sure there are too many betting opportunities but it should be an informative day nonetheless. I have had a couple of little bets and might add to them if anything impresses me in the paddock.

My main bet is on Ventura Storm in the Classic Trial. This one impressed me at Newmarket when winning the Fielden, doing all his best work in the last furlong suggesting a step up in trip would suit. He also went well on the ground. Obviously Midterm is the big danger and he owes me nothing after I backed him in his maiden. He could be special and win easily but I don’t want to back a once-raced maiden, first time out on softish ground at even money. So at 4’s I think VS is reasonable value and should finish first or second.

I have done a couple of sneaky trebles to go alongside this bet as I think Western Hymn and Belardo will both win but I am not wanting to chuck big money at such short priced favourites. Western Hymn loves Sandown and always wins first time out and Berardo looked all class last time out and has a fitness advantage over Toormore.

    £35ew Ventura Storm – 7-2 2.20 Sandown
    £20 win treble
    Ventura Storm, Western Hymn, Belardo
    Midterm, Western Hymn, Belardo

Shame about Antonoe Joni but I suppose that injury could be part of the problem with her now, Qemah was very impressive.
    Onwards and upwards….
Hope you are able to get to Sandown tomorrow and see the Fielden Stakes winner Ventura Storm run in the Bet365 Classic Trial.
Ryan Moore has chosen to ride Midterm for Prince Khalid but Frankie Dettori is an excellent booking for Ventura Storm who is going to love the extra distance whereas Midterm is, as yet, unproven…good luck enjoy your day and back lots of winners. :rose:

Thanks guys! Yes Ventura Storm is a non runner unfortunately. Jac I was actually quite encouraged by Antonoe’s run. Her trainer was very happy as she hasn’t long been back in training and still has her winter coat. He is expecting a lot of improvement in between runs. She may not be able to peg back that winner but I still think she has an exciting future.

On to today and I am definitely going so very excited. I was reading the Weekender yesterday and apparently David Lanigan has a very high opinion of Gershwin who runs in the last in the handicap that Jack Hobbs won last year. The horse has big entries for such a low handicap mark and would have to be winning this of 83 if he is anywhere near as good as his trainer thinks.

I have also combined him in a couple of trebles as per yesterday but replacing VS with High Grounds who is very highly regarded by Charlie Hills.

    £50ew Gershwin – 5-1 5.05 Sandown loser
£20 win trebles Western Hymn, Belardo, Midterm/High Grounds, Gershwin (7 bets)
£20 win accumulator the same horses (2 bets)

1 more bet for today. Hugo Palmer has said how much he rates Nessita. He has given her an Irish Oaks entry and yet she runs off a mark of only 77 today. Should take some beating.

    £100ew Nessita – 4-1 5.25 Doncaster

A disastrous day of betting yesterday but plenty learned I hope. Midterm was workmanlike wasn’t he? He didn’t run like a Derby winner to me but it was his first run so I guess he is entitled to come on for it. In his favour he looks like he stays all day and he travels well and we KNOW he will handle the track so who knows? The Dante should tells us a lot more.

Western Avenue wan well but got tired late on. I was kicking myself as the winner looked nice in the paddock but I didn’t know what to make of his French form so left him alone.

I don’t think James Doyle will ever ride as bad a race again if he rides til he is 200. The stable enter a pacemaker and he decides to sit a good 15 lengths off the pace even though his two main rivals are right up there. It was a horrible misjudgement and he has also had to give the horse a hard ride to even get into contention. Saying that, the first two ran really well. Toormore looked magnificent but burly and he is clearly better than ever. Dutch Connection also looked very well and came there swinging but a mile on softish ground on a tough track like Sandown found him out. He will be winning good races when the ground dries out.

Atone never went a yard and look liked there was something amiss but I was impressed by the 2nd, Ajman Princess – a really nice looking filly trained by Roger Varian – one to keep on the right side of.

On to today and all the focus is on the jumps so I have had two small bets at Leicester. SMS has his horses in great form and I expect Du Moto to take a lot of beating and an old favourite of mine, Home Of The Brave starts out in the listed race. He should be up to winning that.

    £80 win Du Moto – 2-1 – 3.25 Leicester
    £80 win Home of the Brave – 2-1 – 4.00 Leicester
    £40 win double

Thanks guys!! Yes just back home now. Ran 4.12!! Absolutely loved it. Was struggling at about 11 miles when I was overtaken by this beautiful filly with lovely long brown legs and a nice pert behind. I thought “I’ll follow her for a while” – 15 miles later I was still right behind her!!! I tapped her on the shoulder after we finished to thank her for dragging me along but she looked at me as though I was some sort of perv…….which I suppose I must be!!! Anyway it was great fun and incredible support all the way and yes I beat my fundraising target Nath! Thanks in part to you of course! Yes – looking forward to a great weekend of racing Jac!!
