Tiggy Wiggy is small; type not to make the usual physical development from two to three to train on.
She’s also shown a good deal of temperament in the paddock this year, temperament has gone? As you say Nathan, that may be to do with an injury; appears not to be enjoying her racing and high head carriage could indeed be a sign… Right decision.Ivawood has trained on, Guineas runs right up with two year old form. Always going to need to improve on 2014 to win a 3yo/3yo+ Group 1. Some over-estimated his potential, similar to like I did with War Command. It happens. Since the two Guineass disappointed at Ascot, but ran well enough at Deauville, better than 7th position indicates with trouble in running. Decent colt, just hasn’t been able to show that little bit of improvement to make a top class 3 year old and others improved past him. That said, many Hannon horses (of all abilities, not just these two) have imo not shown their full ability this season. So wouldn’t be a total surprise if Ivawood were to improve if Hannon himself returns to form. In previous years my local trainer has been in “trainers in form” lists for most of the season, this term seldom seen.

September 10, 2015 at 15:37 #1201845Kiyoshi very disappointing and she’ll be retired after that. When they go they really go these fillies!
Undeterred I am going in for one of my biggest bets of the season tomorrow. Hawksmoor is a serious filly and the step up in trip will be perfect for her tomorrow. I can’t believe they are giving me 9-2!! Pile in.
£200ew Hawksmoor – 9-2 – 3.40 Doncaster non runner

I agree with that ginge but just think there’s a bit more to it with Ivawood.
Too many excuses, he was Hughes and Hannons nap of meeting at Ascot but ran like a pig ‘tired after both guineas’
In France he was ‘fresh and ready’ yes he had a bump early on but if at the same level of last year wouldn’t of got a bump as he was always so fast out of the stalls. He’s been entered in about two or three lower class level races ‘confidence boosters’ since but has been pulled out ‘going’.Charles Darwin to conquer the World
September 11, 2015 at 13:11 #1202587With Hawksmoor a non runner I am going to give an old friend one last chance. This is the easiest race Pallasator has run in this year and I am hoping the step back up in trip will make the difference.

Delighted with that. He is a lovely big horse but so very quirky. Sometimes you just have to keep the faith!!!

September 11, 2015 at 23:42 #1202962Well done with Pallasator Joni, when I saw AA get on board I thought he was on a mission to get rid of him but he did a great job getting him to post and all credit to the handlers too he’s a real handful.
Bet Sir Mark’s lighting up a few Havanas and pouring a few wee goldies tonight whilst watching the replays.
Well deserved winner Joni great job.
Things turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...September 12, 2015 at 08:53 #1203472Thanks Jaq. I saw him at Ascot at the beginning of the season and couldn’t believe how big he is. He looks like a 4 mile chaser! Nice to see him have a going day.
Today looks like a minefield and I am flying to Qatar at midday so will miss all the action anyway! Such a shame about the bloody weather. How good would a proper clash between Golden Horn, Gleneagles, Free Eagle, CDA and the others be on decent ground?!!! The RP site isn’t being particularly helpful this morning but I have just seen that it is yielding with good patches. I doubt Glen will run and I would be wary about backing GH on that ground. The problem again is that it will be all gooey and sticky come 6pm – probably perfect for CDA if you can trust he is back to his best. Same comments apply to Euro Charlene who I would have backed in the Matron and I liked Sir Isaac Newton as well but I just feel very wary about backing horses on dodgy ground.
They seem to have escaped the worst of it at Donny so I have had 2 bets there. Homeofthebrave has become a favourite of mine and I think he is a good price considering he is the top rated horse in the race and has most of the conditions in his favour. I also think Bondi Beach will reverse form with STS over the longer trip in the big one. He is more lightly raced than his main rival and I think he still has improvement in him whereas the other has had quite a season. Obviously my mate SDS could out-ride them all on the other O’Brien horse but I’ll stick with BB.
£75ew Homeofthebrave – 11-2 – Doncaster – 3.10 loser
£100 win Bondi Beach – 2-1 – Doncaster – St Leger winner

September 18, 2015 at 12:53 #1207292Some short priced bets today.
There is nobody who has his string in better form than William Haggas and he could have a good day at Newbury. I have backed Satellite again as I was so angry to miss him last time and I think the conditions will be perfect today. He also has a very nice 2 year old running who is incredibly short but will win by at least 5 lengths. Special Season could indeed live up to his name. I also HAVE to back Ectot as he should carry these if back to his best. He is so frustrating as I am sure he is a top class horse but he has thrown away his chance the last twice so we need him on his best behaviour today. If he is (and he does have a pacemaker) he will win. And finally I also think Ascription is the class horse in his race. HP is not in great form but this one should win.
£80 win Satellite – 13-8 – Newbury 2.45 loser
£200 win Special Season – 8-11 – Newbury 3.55 loser
£80 win Ascription – 15.8 – Newbury 4.25 loser
£100 win Ectot – 2-1 – MAisson Laffitte – 2.20 loser

One of those nightmare days yesterday where nothing went right. You have to take those on the chin and not get downhearted. There are other days when the luck goes for you. Ectot wasn’t unlucky just useless. I have no idea what has happened to the horse we saw this time last year but he is unrecognisable now and will surely be retired. To be fair that old donkey Satellite ran a stormer and only got hunted down close home by an equally brave rival. They pulled 17l clear!!! How to destroy your handicap mark without winning!!! Cosgrave had a total brain freeze on Special Season. I mean how can you be an unlucky loser in an 8 runner field at bloody Newbury???? Somehow he managed to find trouble not once, not twice but three times a lady. I was spitting feathers after that one. Then Ascription came there cruising looking like he would win by 6 lengths only to find little and get jumped by Frankie close home. So 3 near misses but we move on.
3 bets today. I am taking on Eagle Top on soft ground at Newbury. He is a class horse and I know he seemed to handle soft last time at Ascot but I am not sure he just coped with it better than most of his rivals who also hate it. In Sky Hunter he is up against a rival who LOVES to get his toe in. He has to prove his fitness but has run well fresh many times before so I have had a bit of fun with him and reversed him with the fav just in case. At Ayr I like Sir Michael’s Exosphere who is a typical improver from that yard. He takes on Scottish who I backed last time but this one ran a stinker in France and has had a tough season. I have also backed Distain at Newmarket. She was only just denied last time and pretty much runs of the same mark as the brilliant Tom Marquand takes off 3 of the 4lb.
£35ew Sky Hunter – 9-1 – 1.45 Newbury placed
£80 win Exosphere – 7-2 – 3.10 Ayr loser
£80 win Distain – 11-4 – Newmarket 5.00 loser

September 26, 2015 at 11:41 #1208608Would be nice to finish the season on a high and will attempt to get back on track today. Some fantastic racing at Newmarket and I can’t wait to see my current fav horse Shalaa do his stuff in the Middle Park. Obviously he is too short to have a bet but I would like to see him win well and be re-routed to the Guineas. I have 4 bets in 3 races.
£150 win Besharah – 5-2 – 2.35 Newmarket loser
£35ew Portage – 7-1 – 3.50 Newmarket placed

September 27, 2015 at 09:34 #1208740Have they not paid out on that yet Joni…?
Perhaps they think Hanagan will smash in 30 winners by the end of next week to make a game of it…

October 4, 2015 at 07:50 #1212845So I have been a bit quiet for the last couple of weeks. A very busy schedule plus some poor judgement has led to a bad patch but that happens every season and I aim to bounce back today at an incredible days racing at Longchamps. History could be made and, even though I won’t be backing her at the prices on that ground, it will be amazing if Treve can do the business. She looks better than ever this year and it will be some achievement if she can do it. I have backed two in that race. I love the genius that Andre Fabre and he has plotted New Bay‘s whole season around this race. I think he may well give Treve the most to do. I worry about Golden Horn’s tough season, I have so many horses flop at the Arc having carried all before them and I worry that it might happen with Jonny G’s star. At the prices I have gone for Free Eagle. There would have been very little between them at Leopardstown but for the bump and he has been lightly raced so should be fresh. I can’t see why he is nearly three times the price of GH.
Elsewhere on the card I have backed Antonoe who Steve Caution pointed out to me after her maiden win. I think she could be a beast. I really like HP’s Galileo Gold and think he has a good ew chance but I am deserting Covert Girl as I think she may have had a hard season and I’m backing the improving Jazzi Top instead. Finally I am prepared to give Make Believe one more chance in the Foret. He flopped badly at Ascot but was seriously impressive before that.
£100 win Antonoe – 15-8 – 1.00 Long loser
£25ew Galileo Gold – 15-2 – 1.35 Long placed
£35ew Jazzi Top – 6-1 – 2.10 Long placed
£50ew New Bay – 5-1 – Arc placed
£35ew Free Eagle – 14-1 – Arc loser
£35ew Make Believe – 6-1 – 4.50 Long won
£1 win Lucky 15 (£62) -£36"this perfect mix of poetry and destruction, this glory of rhythm, power and majesty: the undisputed champion of the world!!!"
