Is this Jon Bon Jovi or Jonbon the horse? (You had one job….)

Let’s see if the full brother to Douvan is “Livin’ On A Prayer” at Ascot this afternoon.

I’m waiting for Mike007 to confirm. He heroically (Get In!!!) somehow plucked out Jonbon for a tip last time out, and opened a thread to confirm it.

Jonbon is the very definition of hype and his odds do not equate to the strength of his form so far.

That said, he looks an amazing specimen of a racehorse and he is in the right hands to peak at the Cheltenham Festival.

    Which is not today, however.

I’m starting to go the other way with Graded Henderson runners. They must be working the house down if the bloke runs them regularly before March.

As the late Peter O’Sullevan used to sarcastically say in such circumstances: “the track record does not appear to be in any immediate jeopardy.”

Good ride by Coleman. I always think you should make the running if no one else wants to and benefit from having a soft lead.

Jonbon even survived the potential curse of my One To Watch nomination on the awards thread!

Irish 3m Maiden Point winner has far too much speed for them at the business end of an Ascot 2m Grade 2 Novices’ Hurdle run at an absolute crawl early doors.

Arguably the astute Aidan Coleman helped himself to a soft lead, but even so. That’s a right good horse that is.

Impressive for sure but would like to see him in a truly run competitive race prior to Cheltenham to see how he handles those kind of conditions – going into Cheltenham I wouldn’t like to see him having just had a few races where they trundled around before having little more than a 4F burn up.

To be fair, he is with a trainer and Sevenbarrows team that have won in excess of SEVENTY races at the Festival.

No horse will be better prepared.

Even if he went for races like the Tolworth he would be unlikely to be in a double-digit field and it could again be very tactical.

I think he will be even better in a truly run race.

Me too. I was there and at newbury too. He just has that power about him, if that makes sense.

He is so like his brother, has the same athleticism; hope he stays injury-free. Still think of that first fence error at the festival, Douvan was never the same again, wonder if Ruby should have pulled him up right then.
