I’m sure this has been discussed many times, even recently, but I love the way Richard Johnson rides and feel he is every bit as strong as McCoy and a lot more stylish.  Watching Tony I’ve often noticed he hits the horse very near the number cloth whereas Richard hits it on the rump usually, which is where it’s supposed to be hit I believe.  If I had a horse I’d want Johnson on it preferably.  In a finish you’d lose nothing in the saddle with Richard in my opinion.  He reminds me a lot of Richard Dunwoody actually.
Nice to hear that Robbie Supple is now a starter. I wasn’t aware of that.  He’s done me a couple of favours in the past too when with Len Lungo, so good luck to him.  <br>
March 11, 2007 at 17:41 #43192Good post LL .. I like R Johnson style a lot and prefer him over AP.
AP is the better jockey though, probably one of the best ever, IMO.
March 11, 2007 at 20:41 #43193the thing i love about AP is that he will never ever give up on a horse until he reaches the line, unless he knows there is something wrong with the horse (Black Jack Ketchum) and then he is soft on the animal. I have always noticed Johnson comes second to AP in most things notably the riders championship but johnson is always a reliable jockey. I’d be priviliged to have either on a horse of mine!
