Wasn’t Big Mac’s appearance a fair summary of the programme?
He was there so you could gawp at an overweight seventy-year-old with little or no social skills. Terrific.
August 28, 2010 at 10:15 #314928John McCririck is a psychiatrist’s wet dream – but that’s another discussion altogether.
As for his latest stint on Big Brother: fair play to him. He takes the cash, he backs himself ( or so he claims ) @ 3/1 to be the first evictee and it’s job well done.
However, he says he loathes it and the people in it; I disagree. The self loathing, the self deprecation and the loathing for others, plus the amoral stance he takes – countered by the constant moralising and pontificating
– nah, not having it.Yes, Big Mac is all one big public act. Privately, I guess it’s a different story completely. Without the long suffering ( or is she ? ) Booby by his side, he’d just be another lost and lonely ex public school boy with numerous hang-ups, and as Nadia observed, with " soft hands "

Gambling Only Pays When You're Winning
January 16, 2011 at 16:49 #17262I dunno, but he seems to me to remind me a little of Muhammad Ali at the onset of his parkinsons. Does he suffer from a similar condition nowadays? I apologise if i’m mistaken.
January 16, 2011 at 17:54 #336274hmmm I know what you mean as I’ve also noticed him shaking, especially his arms while reading the papers on the Morning Line. Maybe its something to do with his age?

Too much diet cola
January 17, 2011 at 15:21 #336404He’s been shaking for many years, it is not a new thing.
I don’t like speculating about someone’s health. If Mac wants to keep it private then he should be allowed to do so.
Value Is EverythingJanuary 17, 2011 at 16:26 #336411He looks well for a person of 70 to me, many have been six foot under for years at his age.

When he puts himself about in the public spotlight, he opens himself up to public scrutiny i’m afraid.
Pimping yourself doesn’t really get any more blatant than appearing on BigBro.January 18, 2011 at 10:01 #336521He looks well for a person of 70 to me, many have been six foot under for years at his age.
Your benchmark for looking healthy is set a bit low, ie not being "six feet under"?

One of the worst aspects of our Brave Old World at the moment is this eternal, intrusive, rude and destructive "public scrutiny", which will certainly end in tears for the UK as a nation.
If our vapid and pre-pubescent media want to pry into somebody’s financial probity when that person runs for public office that’s one thing; but surely a private individual’s state of health is just that –
private
.
Lines have to be drawn somewhere, and I don’t believe our curiosity should extend beyond wishing Mac a long and happy life.

Is he actually ill? Very sad if he is.

I never stated that he was ill, I merely asked based on what I saw on ML.
It could well simply be old age. Carrying all that crap around my neck would make me shake too lolJanuary 19, 2011 at 01:27 #336643When he puts himself about in the public spotlight, he

Everyone has the right, whoever they are, whatever they’ve done – to have their health kept private.

He first started shaking the day Barney Curley tore him a new backside and hasn’t stopped since
January 19, 2011 at 09:03 #336655For your pleasure, Fist.

I hadn’t watched it for a month or so – rightly or wrongly, it always makes me laugh!
January 19, 2011 at 11:32 #336671I think that people in the public eye, especially those that court controversy and make an effort to have an attnetion seeking kind of presence can expect people to ask questions about their private lives too. They make it easier on themselves if they give the information rather than let rumours and speculation flow.
I cannot think why he would not want people to know he was ill anyway, it is what it is, trying to hide it will not make it go away. He is a proud man and perhaps he does not want any sympathy. Who knows?
There has been a lot of chit chat in racing circles about what is wrong. Even scandalous rumours circulating which may, or may not be true. Apparently he goes to the US for some kind of treatment. He has had the shakes for some years now, but it has become more pronounced of late.
In person, he seems more fragile than on tv, could be age related, but he is not that old.
