Ok so now I have 2 bad judges in the little black book
November 9, 2011 at 11:26 #376886We can only speculate but Bostons Angel was going fine and given he stays every bit as well as the winner it’s very plausible to think he could have been at the finish.
His first up runs have been a bumper, maiden hurdle and a beginners chase, hardly comparable to a group 1, he would have surely been spot on for this and if he wasn’t if I was the owner I’d sack the trainer!
Strike rate almost doubles on runners with a 100+ day absence in major races (gr1,2,3,listed) as opposed to non major races and doubles again on horses under 8/1

One thing is certain; Bostons Angel was travelling better than the winner when he came down.
Quito’s trainer summed it up admirably afterwards when he said they’d look for a 5 mile race for the horse.
November 9, 2011 at 17:37 #376937You wouldn’t be afraid of him not getting up the Cheltenham hill anyway Reet!
November 11, 2011 at 14:58 #377294I just don’t think using the performances of others from the yard as a reason for saying a horse would definitely have blown up. It’s an empty argument with absolutely no foundation. Some horses are brought along slowly but others because of early season targets are a lot further forward. and Bostons Angel was definitly not going backwards when he came down.
No sooner do you make statements like that at this time of the season and SPLAT!! she has a double one of which was 1st time out.
Nicky Henderson looked to be in the same situation a week later almost everything he sent out won.
