Fitzgerald’s fancy for the King George was Jango Baie.
That was a surprise. Said no one.
December 26, 2025 at 21:17 #1748618As good a King George as we’ve had for a while and ITV could only be bothered to show 4 horses beforehand

That’s a new one, Alice.
January 1, 2026 at 15:12 #174930040k+ (of which over 5k are under 18) in attendance at Cheltenham today which is very encouraging, although I find it hard to believe that 50% of them are 1st time racegoers which ITV reported as being told by the booking people at the course….

Exactly how do they know that because last time I booked racing tickets (which was online to be fair), I don’t recall ever being asked during the process as to whether it was my first time going racing.
January 1, 2026 at 15:37 #1749301I actually enjoyed the Racing on ITV today – and watched from “start to finish” for once.
I wish they would stick to this format with “Mcoy, Fitzgerald and Chamberlin” not “on-screen”.
Even, Chapman was bearable today.
Was a bonus to get two races from Musselburgh and one from Windsor to stop the inane chat between races.
January 1, 2026 at 16:29 #1749308Several fallers and unseats today, thankfully no injuries to horses or jockeys and this was clear, quite quickly after the fall/unseat in nearly all cases. Not one replay of any fall/unseat which is becoming commonplace on ITV’s coverage these days. Maybe we should not bother to analyse why any horse fell or the jockey was unseated and pretend it just doesn’t happen.
January 3, 2026 at 11:48 #1749432With Wincanton off anyone know if ITV are showing anything from Lingfield or Cork?
The more I know the less I understand.

That’s a new one, Alice.
That’s a perfect candidate for Private Eye’s Commentatorballs
January 3, 2026 at 13:09 #1749456In reply to RTB:
In the absence of Wincanton ITV are showing 1.10, 1.45 and 2.20 from Lingfield with these races 20 minutes later than published (1.30, 2.05 and 2.40).

Well I guess its a bit better than “going down on your sleeve”
January 3, 2026 at 13:18 #1749460Cheers Rob

January 3, 2026 at 14:44 #1749477Steven Darbyshire who pops up every now and then seems a great racing character.
The more I know the less I understand.
January 3, 2026 at 15:19 #1749478I missed Plunkett’s howler since I can’t stand her wet wittering so always have her on mute.
January 3, 2026 at 15:32 #1749481That’s wet wittering, not the much more pleasant West Wittering …

January 3, 2026 at 18:07 #1749495We’re just lucky that we have free to air racing on tv. I’m pretty fed up of the constant criticism to be honest. Can I just suggest that if people loathe it so much they just subscribe to other channels and don’t watch ITV racing. Just leave it to people like me who actually enjoy it….
January 3, 2026 at 18:11 #1749496Have you read the RTV thread, moehat? That channel attracts just as much criticism, if not more, than ITV. We don’t have a dedicated thread for Sky Sports Racing, but that probably wouldn’t fare much better.
I think we all appreciate the amount of free-to-air racing we receive; it’s just that we expect paid “professionals” to display some degree of competence.
