I despair- do people honestly think spending a Friday night at an all-weather track in the middle of winter is going to turn 18-25 year olds into racing fans for life?
More likely to put them off for life.
November 27, 2025 at 00:00 #1745675Regarding late night partying at an AW racetrack it is surely not the way to go for the 18-25’s. Racing is either in your blood or it isn’t. It’s the horses that draw you in when you look back at their breeding it is a fantastic journey taking you back in time, they are beautiful animals and going racing should be about appreciating this and enjoying a day or evening at the races with like-minded people whatever your age. Things turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...November 28, 2025 at 18:40 #1745814Good to see Francome being interviewed by ITV today to see what they are missing.
The more I know the less I understand.
November 28, 2025 at 19:33 #1745830Francome , proper lad , and as McCririck said ” greatest jockey ” to be remembered he stopped riding in the 82 season to share the championship with the injured Scudamore , that’s class and something that just wouldn’t happen today
November 28, 2025 at 19:42 #1745834Lol. Anyone who said that now would probably be hounded to the end of the Earth.
November 28, 2025 at 19:49 #1745842Most people would still laugh at what he said (as I did). It is a only self appointed group of humourless killjoys and the permanently offended who seem to think they have the right to police language and attitudes.
November 28, 2025 at 19:53 #1745846Especially those who pretend they stand for “free speech”.
But the politics threads are that way >>>>>>>>>>>>>
November 28, 2025 at 19:54 #1745847John Francome the guest on this week’s episode of Unbridled with Matt Chapman and Paddy Brennan. Great to hear/see him again: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nLuZ2Kb0Q18
November 28, 2025 at 19:55 #1745848I know he’s wrote plenty fiction books however I’d love a warts and all bio , let’s face it he’s been a monumental shagger , often wondered if he and Emma ever …. Sadly the only thing we share is being Teetotal
November 28, 2025 at 20:44 #1745865He tried ro pull me and my girlfriend at Kempton one day. Admittedly, I was a very pretty boy… he apologised when he realised I was a bloke.
November 28, 2025 at 21:58 #1745873Francome, Thompson and McCrirrick characters for C4 which are really lacking from ITV.
The more I know the less I understand.
November 28, 2025 at 22:00 #1745874To be fair, ITV do have the dazzling personalities of Chamberlin, McCoy and Persad.
November 29, 2025 at 05:30 #1745900I’m surprised any racing fan watches an awful lot of ITV to be fair. It’s not for the likes of us who enjoy an afternoon at Leicester in December with the mud flying.
It’s for the likes of people who knew who Chris Hughes was before he appeared on ITV racing.
November 29, 2025 at 07:18 #1745905Mainstream television today is frightened of characters. It prefers presenters who are safe and bland.
November 29, 2025 at 08:46 #1745912Looking forward to their usual scant coverage of The Fighting Fifth today while based 300 miles away
November 29, 2025 at 11:19 #1745934It is the Alex and Josh show on SSR.
November 29, 2025 at 14:31 #1746040Where is Chapman, these days? I know he’s still on SSR regularly, but he hasnt been a mainstay on ITV racing for ages now.
