Credit to ITV for its quality Goodwood coverage this week
Best bits for me are Ms Cumani’s Parade Ring assessments and the actual camera-work of the races themselves and the beautiful Sussex Downs backdrops. The ITV Sussex Stakes ITV camera-work seemed much superior to the Racing Channel’s recording. Shame the racing itself probably isn’t quite living up the the ITV billing.August 22, 2025 at 14:16 #1738564If you go York races avoid the cocktail bar… Took the chap about 5 minutes to make one, then couldn’t get the ting to open… I’m wetting myself here
record sales apparently yesterday.. Jeeeez

Not sure how insightful Cumani’s assessments are. She was apparently unable to see that Frost At Dawn is a filly yesterday when she was standing right next to her!
August 23, 2025 at 12:02 #1738673Really didn’t like the overhead drone shots they chose to use on the live races until the fields got about halfway up the straight before switching back to the normal camera view for the finish.
Its a very good/interesting tool to use when reviewing the race replays to show various traffic problems that some horses had during the races or if looking at races to review cases of interference that took place but that should be the extent of its use.
August 23, 2025 at 15:26 #1738755Took the words out of my mouth LD. In normal viewing you don’t have drone shots they are really irritating.
I would like to thank ITV for reminding me about 100 times the City of York in now a Group 1.The more I know the less I understand.
August 23, 2025 at 22:28 #1738817Yes, however we are at the mercy of the media who are obsessed with dreaming up innovative ways of “enhancing” the coverage of the sport because that’s what the viewers want, isn’t it?
They would be of more use if they were donated to Ukraine.
Sky did outdo ITV by using a jockeycam up the straight for one race at Ascot the other week, a practice that should be outlawed from in-race coverage.
....and you've got to look a long way back for anything else.
August 24, 2025 at 13:20 #1738881It’s hard to believe that anyone with half a brain would think it’s preferable to view a race, at a crucial part of the race from behind.
While we’re at it, what’s the point of those coloured boxes with percentages during races on Sky Sports? Just an annoyance and distraction for me.
September 12, 2025 at 14:49 #1739801Nice one Jason!!!
Talking about snipers at the top of the stand.September 13, 2025 at 15:58 #1739910And what’s with the sniper clip before the Paddy Power ads after the breaks? Not exactly tasteful at the best of times.
September 30, 2025 at 17:02 #1740930Regardless of whether the show isn’t your cup of tea or not, it is good news that racing remains on terrestial TV until 2030.
September 30, 2025 at 17:40 #1740933Indeed without them there would be nothing on terrestrial.
The more I know the less I understand.
September 30, 2025 at 21:37 #1740947Excellent news that ITV is showing such long-term commitment to racing. The sport continues to be very fortunate to have them as a partner.
