I agree Joni, I’ve watched pretty much all of it and he’s very subdued. I know life can be tough in the BBH, especially with those American bastards there, but he’s nothing like I imagined he would be. There has been a lot of arguments and confrontation between Rylan and Speidi, maybe he doesn’t like that or perhaps he doesn’t want to get involved in fear it would further exacerbate his reputation? Who knows. Overall the show has done nothing for him career wise, he doesn’t exactly need the money, maybe he just wanted to know what it’d be like and get some tv time but it looks to have been pretty much a redundant experience.
January 21, 2013 at 22:19 #427081I’m sad enough to watch it, mainly due to Frankie. Its been dullsville, and Frankie "Tony Montanna" Dettori has heavily contributed to it.
January 22, 2013 at 00:02 #427090Frankie has not been coming over well. I knew that he was a brooding, unpleasant type in real life but the only thing I have learned about him is that he smokes. (Cigarettes, that is.)
I would have thought he would have known better. What a bad example to set, with him being a family man with young children.
It’s coming to a state of affairs when an American couple who will be unknown to many people and who are cynically playing a game and deliberately trying to be provocative are proving the most watchable.
The other not-so-surprising revelation is what a nasty, selfish, damaged and vindictive piece of work Rylan is.
The most exciting thing that has been happening is off-camera with the potentially explosive news that Rylan has been regularly allowed to leave the house and go off for rehearsals for the X Factor tour.
Channel 5 have been forced to admit that it is true after Gillian Taylforth let the cat out of the bag after she was evicted. What a joke.
The housemates are supposed to be away from the rest of the world for three weeks and he is being allowed to go out for this purpose, supposedly being chaperoned by a Big Brother producer.
No mention of it on the show itself, of course, as it makes a total mockery of the whole sorry concept. What a charade. It could well backfire on Rylan (the odds-on favourite) and the show.
January 22, 2013 at 08:21 #427093I quite like Rylan (I may be slightly biased though as I have backed him to win!), he’s the only one who has stood up to Speidi and their antics (albeit contrived), he has something about him. However he clearly shouldn’t have been allowed to go on the programme if he had commitments with X Factor, it has to be one or the other and now the whole integrity (albeit minimal!) of the show has come into question.
I reiterate the fact that Frankie has taken nothing from being on the show, if anything it has made his already tarnished reputation much worse. I wouldn’t have thought he will be winning many trainer/owner friends by appearing on the programme which begs the question should he retire from racing after serving his ban?
January 22, 2013 at 09:11 #427094Bear in mind you’re only watching one hour of heavily edited activities, there used to be hours of live coverage in the old days.
Thus nothing at all on Rylan’s outings.Frankie has done exactly the right thing from what I’ve seen and more or less gone through the motions rather than act like an idiot like the majority have.
I mean crying because you have to nominate one of your mates
Razor Ruddock’s been like an old woman.I expect there will be one or two disappointed racing hacks who forecast disaster for both Frankie & racing.
It will have absolutely no bearing on Frankie’s career and will be quickly forgotten.
He has neither enhanced or tarnished his reputation.January 22, 2013 at 13:25 #427108Frankie has provided zero entertainment value and is very fortunate to still be involved.
I started watching it purely because of Frankie and if it wasn’t for Speidi would have given up a long time ago.
January 22, 2013 at 17:43 #427118He’d have only got more air-time if caught up in the bickering and bitching. He’s actually come across as being quite astute – the look on his face when it’s all being kicking off is one of ‘WTF?’.
As for smoking – come on, I’m not a smoker, but millions of parents are. Not every ones cup of tea, but it’s no crime. Many jocks are smokers, i’d say many do it to keep the weight at bay.January 22, 2013 at 18:21 #427126I agree with Shack, Frankie has handled the tensions very well. As for the show I would of thought Prof would of been on here calling it bent as it must be a fix for Speidi to still be there, what sane person would waste however much it cost to keep those two in there is madness but each to their own.

You actually prefer Rylan to Speidi? As you said each to their own. Regarding the fact Speidi are still in it could have something to do with it being an entertainment show and without them there wouldn’t have been any?
January 22, 2013 at 21:35 #427159It’s absolutely pathetic that Claire from Steps and Rylan have got themselves so upset just because Claire couldn’t read a letter from her children because Spencer and Heidi refused a challenge to live in separate rooms.
If they are so inconsolable about such a life-changing and tragic thing as a letter, she should not have gone on a television show that required her to be away from her beloved children for up to three weeks.
She will be making shedloads of money in there, thousands and thousands more than many viewers could possibly hope to earn in several years.
It’s a game. Spencer and Heidi are playing the pantomime villains bit. I wish the rest of the cry babies would just grow up.
If you can’t wait a few more days to see your children without the end of the world being nigh just because you haven’t had a letter from them, it’s too pathetic and shallow to be true.
January 22, 2013 at 22:02 #427160Stilvi, I personally found Paula Hamilton much, much, much more entertaining and interesting then Speidi and she was only in for about a week, you didn’t know if she was going to kick off, be nice or what. Heidi and Spencer in comparison are so predictable it’s boring.

January 22, 2013 at 23:01 #427170I just want to punch Spencers lights out. Such a smug, annoying Pratt!

Problem with Hamilton was although she might have given the distinct impression of being off her trolley she was an isolated figure and as such her entertainment value was very limited. It may be predictable to you but Speidi have continually stirred things up.
Agree about the letters stunt – cringeworthy even for this programme – perhaps they should have got Simon Bates to read them out?
Good chance Frankie will be booted out tonight.

I’d go for Ryan or Tricia. Ryan’s just a whingeing Aussie and doesnt have much going for him, nor would i reckon he has much of a ‘fan base’. Tricia is ok, but again, I can’t really see why people will be voting for her to win, which is the difference at this stage. And again, who will be voting for Speidi to actually win it?
I think Frankie should be pretty safe at this stage.January 23, 2013 at 11:30 #427200Let’s face it most of them are hypocrites, none more so than the Hamilton woman. After Frankie tried to comfort her by telling her it was just a game, she said to herself after he had gone, "What the feck does he know, it’s only a fecking game, it’s not only a fecking game, it’s my life, he’s only a fecking jockey".
Only for a few hours later after being evicted to say "It’s only a game" when interviewed.
stilvi, what exactly were you expecting Frankie to do for your entertainment? A song & dance act? A bit of juggling? What exactly?

I wasn’t actually expecting anything. Other than a flying dismount I had no idea what he is capable of and I still don’t. The mere fact that he started off second favourite and now he is favourite to not to even finish in the top six should give a clue as to what sort of impact he has made. Other than collecting his cheque seemingly a bit of a pointless exercise.
January 23, 2013 at 21:47 #427269Frankie has finished well beat but I was impressed with the way he conducted himself………not a trace of ego or temperament, a nice guy….very true to himself throughout.
