I wouldn’t back IG for ANYTHING at the minute. Runs as though either the tank empties rapidly or if something is wrong, both of which will be problems, to varying degrees, in any grade.

I’d tend to agree with Cormack to be honest I wouldn’t touch the horse. He’s out of the winning habit and petrol seems to run out incredibly quickly.

Sorry to hear that Rob ~ hope he’s well enough to enjoy a long retirement.

Hope he has a long and happy retirement. Hopefully, whilst his chasing career hasn’t been a success, people don’t forget what a top class staying hurdler he was in his pomp.

Sorry to hear that Rob. I was gutted that he never made it as a chaser but I certainly remember the day he beat Baracouda (and Simon Holt’s brilliant commentary -‘the grey horse has done it’) so I hope that he has a long & honourable retirement…

It’s a pity, but at least he’s going to go into retirement.

And, as a winner of one of the 4 Festival championship races, he’s done you proud.

Great staying hurdler, his races at the Cheltenham Festival will live long in the memory (even for a ‘flattie’ like myself).

cheers lads, we’ll never forget the great memories, how many people are lucky enough to walk into the winners enclosure at any racecourse, never mind at the festival in a championship race. i still get goose bumps when we watch the video back. when barry kicks for home and sneeks a little peek over his shoulder what a fantastic feeling!

I remember him winning in great style at Bangor at the start of his illustrious hurdle career, a star in the making then as he proved at Cheltenham. Never quite made it over fences, but he is a sriking horse with great presence. I’ll miss seeing him.

It’s a shame he never made it over fences but at least he should lead a long and happy life now he’s retired. I was always worried he’d come to grief over fences.
He’s given us some great memories, and will be missed. All the best with him Rob

A real pity. IG, whilst not having the same ability over the bigger obsticles, was a very talented horse. He certainly earned a good retirement with his excellent hurdling wins. Let’s hope you can get him sound after his injury.
