Mount Ida and Frontal Assault for me. Mount Ida has jumping issues, but she is at least better going righthanded. Her win here at New Years day against Elimay and Scarlet Dove is good form and I think the step up in trip shouldn’t be an issue. In the Kim Muir last year she needed the full 3mf2 to get there. There was even some talking about her running the Gold Cup. Basically the same can be said for Frontal Assault. Good run here in at Fairyhouse in January before flopping at Cheltenham. If he can bounce back he must be in with a chance.
Mount Ida 16/1 EW
Frontal Assault 22/1 EWApril 18, 2022 at 11:29 #1594352Yes DBRBBR before saw your choices had just put bet on Frontal Assualt with j. Kennedy onboard and a nice weight

April 18, 2022 at 13:32 #1594386Just added Lord Lariat e/w 66s, 1st 7 places.
April 18, 2022 at 16:05 #1594414I’m going with 2 ews:
Streets of Doyen- has graded form over hurdles, won on chase debut round Galway which is a tricky track. Jumped badly on next 2 starts, then operated on for kissing spines and did much better over an inadequate trip behind Gentleman de Mee. I’m writing off his BANC effort- he doesn’t go on that ground.
Battleoverdoyen. Perhaps a strange choice but also has graded form in the book on different types of ground and I thought his spin in the Topham was ok. I keep coming back to his being tailed off in the Galway Plate- then coming out and winning 2 days later. He’s going to pop up sometime and his 7lb claimer might coax him into it.
April 18, 2022 at 16:47 #1594427Streets of Doyen is a late withdrawal

Well done, all!

April 18, 2022 at 17:30 #1594442Lump onto Frontal Assault and Gaillard du Mesnil for next year’s NH chase I’d say.
April 18, 2022 at 17:33 #1594444Cheers guys
The trends/stats put up by FF91 last night are really strong, it seems.
The front runners from the start filled first 2 places.April 18, 2022 at 18:59 #1594461Samcro was declared a NR this morning, the overnight rain providing a useful figleaf for the fact that a horse who trudged round 2 laps of Aintree’s National course a week previously was never seriously going to challenge here. No matter- he served his blocker function.
Streets of Doyen was a late NR due to the ground. Correct me if I’m wrong but I think it was dry all day, and top of the ground lover Easy Game won on it. Does McConnell get fined for pulling the horse out late under these circumstances, when the ground was at its worst first thing in the morning?
Lieutenant Command was lame. Ok. So with him and Samcro out, there were places for two reserves to run.
There were three reserves. One, the JP owned Scoir Mear, was declared and ran in a hurdle race today. How can he even be allowed to be a reserve? The other two- the JP owned Alfa Mix, trained by the lovely Gavin Cromwell, and some 100-1 Elliott trained yoke that can’t jump called Definite Plan – did not take up their reserve places. That somebody else could have had. Do the trainers have to provide some sort of makey-uppy justification for their place blocker reserves not running or not? Do they get fined?
Anyway, Lord Lariat sneaked in and stuffed them all.
GOOD.
April 18, 2022 at 19:10 #1594462Well done all.
Lord Lariat back and forth ebbing and flowing just like the tide 🌊.
Gave lots of hope as the race progressed and just kept coming back for more.
