Most will have this as a point and shoot job for Ghaiiyath and hey they are probably right.
Magical reopposes and it’s hard to see her beating him all being equal. The same goes for Lord North.
News has come out that Alpine Star is likely to turn up here after he very good second on heavy ground to Palace Pier. She is 7-1 and to me, PP could be a superstar in the making. Her French second also looks very strong, for all they finished close together, they are all blatently good fillies + probably it was more how the race panned out in true French racing style.
Fancy Blue is shorter to go France for the Opera, so presumably, Magical is Coolmore’s runner? Could have more than one, but hopefully not!
Sottsass could show up and be a danger but i do think Alpine Star should be shorter than 7s.

Hindsight is 20/20 so make the most of it!September 1, 2020 at 16:00 #1499481Depends on the ground. I would imagine Magical would overhaul Ghaiyyath on soft. Ghaiyyath may not turn up anyway in those conditions. Has Ghaiyyath been confirmed for this? Connections had said Sottsass will go for this. Alpine Star is respected after her last run. Fancy Blue was pencilled in for the Matron Stakes as well. I will be likely be cheering on Magical for TTF purposes whether its a betting race I will wait and see.
September 1, 2020 at 20:29 #1499504What’s happened to Headman this year? Any news on him? Ran well last year and was a little unlucky
September 2, 2020 at 15:54 #1499577Sangarius too
Was really looking forward to seeing him and headman as they both looked potential improvers
Both pulled too hard on reappearance and not been seen again
September 2, 2020 at 19:36 #1499600ALPINE STAR was 14s Jack my worry is with her a doubt fillys not best strike rate in race
September 2, 2020 at 19:43 #1499605Didn’t see her at 14s that’s annoying, but I guess she’s been earmarked for here so probably why she’s been cut!

Hindsight is 20/20 so make the most of it!September 2, 2020 at 19:47 #1499606Yeah hills quote me 16s last week a feeling come here sadly not take it
September 7, 2020 at 13:15 #1500265Couldn’t resist a little of the 6/4 about Ghaiyyath. Sounds as if this race is the plan and looks like the weather will be fairly mixed all week so it shouldn’t come up too soft.
September 9, 2020 at 18:44 #1500525I managed to grab evens for Ghaiyyath yesterday evening before the price went odds on.
September 9, 2020 at 18:48 #1500527If there was ever a race to sit one out with Ghaiyyath it’s this one. 300 AOB horses entered so far in Ireland. I’ll be backing Magical I think
September 9, 2020 at 18:56 #1500530I’ll likely try to find some value in the w/o ghaiyyath market on the day
Hopefully plenty of them turn up
September 9, 2020 at 19:06 #1500531Frenchy I am hoping the ground will be good with light rain forecast on friday afternoon, dry until then and again on Saturday. The track will suit Ghaiyyath front running style. The only thing what will ruin Ghaiyyath chances if the going turns up soft. The official going is good to soft or as the Irish call it good to yielding and that going could have been taken on Saturday like they do at the Curragh a week before the first race day.
I am more interested in Magical at the Ascot champions fillies and mares race in Oct. 4/1 with Betfair.
September 9, 2020 at 20:16 #1500539I just think Mike, and it’s still an outstanding question from the season, what happens to Ghaiyyath when he’s not leading or taken on for the lead? And I don’t mean what Rose of Kildare did last time I mean properly ganged up on with 2/3 AOB horses. He’s had every race so easy for him.
Not saying he wouldn’t cope and win easy still and I rate him highly, just saying it is a lingering doubt for me and this weekend on AOB home turf with loads entered…. This could be the race we see it in.
If so at the odds I’d rather watch him do it than get stuck into evens. Magical was also very impressive last year in this
September 9, 2020 at 20:16 #1500540Won’t Magical go for the champions Stakes at Ascot no?
September 9, 2020 at 20:23 #1500541Got a bad feeling we will be discussing Coolmore ‘Pelatons’ again after this race. Hope I’m wrong.
BUY THE SUN
September 9, 2020 at 20:43 #1500544After what I saw in the Sussex Stakes nothing would surprise on what limits they will go to get their horse to win. Even though I lost in the race on Kemako, I was happy to see Mohaather beat Circus Maximus.
September 9, 2020 at 21:44 #1500548I don’t think I’ve ever seen Coolmore do anything blatantly wrong. Maybe….maybe in the SJP, it was a little bit stupid what the jockey on Royal Dornoch was doing in the first 3/4 furlongs. However, I backed Kameko in the Sussex Stakes but no hard luck from me, Oisin was to blame not Coolmore. I didn’t see anything other than normal race riding, same in the Irish 2000 Guineas, it’s normal race riding. As long as it isn’t dangerous, why should jockeys bend over backwards to let others win. Never going to happen and I don’t see any issue with it personally. In fact I enjoy it, I think it adds to the intrigue of the races.
I would love to see on Saturday 2 AOBs go bombing off and settle side by side in front of Ghaiyyath and just unsettled him a little and see what he’s made of
Nothing dangerous, nothing silly, just race tactics
