HARZAND 11/4
Am gutted i missed big prices was 12/1 because Weld run him in arc but looks like he run here 1st before going to the arc i feel he should win this.I doubt Minding or Postponed come here. Can be short price on the day.
August 14, 2016 at 23:38 #1259832Is there a possibility that Minding could end up here?
The Gurkha is out for the season and US Army Ranger ‘gone missing’ posters about to circa around town.
She has an entry the same day in the Matron but is dropping back in distance to a mile a decent prep for a tilt at the Arc.!!
Other than a French trial race this could be the place.Blackbeard to conquer the World
August 15, 2016 at 18:01 #1259901Had a bit on Almanzour now at 10’s. More or less confirmed for the race after today’s win.
Feel that Harzand and USAR will be better over 12F. Following that it seems Ascot Champion or the Arc is next on the agenda.
August 21, 2016 at 19:45 #1260854After today’s developments Harzand has been cut to 5-2 and as low as Evens with some firms.
No doubt he is a very good horse, but i dont see the step back in distance being ideal at all. Both his Derby wins have shown a sustained effort from 2F out to prevail by outstaying his opposition at the end of the race.
Prior to the Derby he was rated doubtful by the trainer unless the ground turned on the easy side. The possibility of good or faster ground over 10F so close to his main target could see him miss the race and possibly run at the Arc trials or go straight there.
Added another bet on Almanzor at 7’s for the race as i feel he maybe a better 10F horse and just coming to his peak.
August 24, 2016 at 18:43 #1261055Harzand has been given an entry today in the Prix Niel. Looking at the entries it looks a lot easier task than taking on much better horses over 10F in this race.
You would think he is going to have hard race to win this, and then to go on to win the Arc 3 weeks later he needs to be real top class horse.
August 25, 2016 at 01:29 #1261087I think Harzand would need it heavy to win at 10F.
US Army Ranger hardly looked like a bullet last Sunday and the Derby looked all about staying, with the third horse headed to the St Leger.
I don’t fancy Harzand at all for the Champion Stakes.
Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.
August 29, 2016 at 13:42 #1261600Just for a change Time Test has been pulled out of a big race.
The excuse this time is that the horse is “Having a break”
This is getting all too predictable and it’s time to admit that the horse just isn’t as good as was first mooted in some places.

Having a break from what? Unfortunate this season, travelling to Ireland no race, train and no ride at Ascot, fail to show it at York but still won to a subsequent Group 1 winner
hmm, there still might be time for him, if he is kept on next year, at least in Group 1’s like Tattersals at the Curragh, ground permitting and early Group 1’s in France, Canadian Pattison, another stab at Eclipse depending on what 3 year olds are going and of course the Princess of Wales. Maybe even Hong Kong. Twice Over only started to win Group 1’s after 4. There are is best bets as a Group 1 in England will be hard to get since they are convinced that he is not a miler
He definitely had no business going to Ireland with that huge weight allowance to deal with and his stop start season . If ground permitting (new track opened at Ascot) perhaps he has a chance at the British Champion Stakes if good ground?
I thought they might have sent him to Arlington, just as well as the ground became soft there.
August 29, 2016 at 21:07 #1261628If the ground is anything better than good (which is possible because Leopardstown is currently fast and the weather looks fairly settled between now and then), there will be no Harzand, Fascinating Rock or Hawkbill, and Almanzor has never run on anything better than good (and good at Deauville isn’t really good!), so it could end up being quite a weak race and at the mercy of the Ballydoyle chosen one.

The horse is unbackable Ante Post
The ‘having a break’ is laughable as when he won the race at York prior to the International being the next race Charlton said that he had under worked him or given him a gallop short of what was needed. I can’t see that race in beating Mondialiste taken it’s toll that much, Smullen sat pretty on him for a long way and only got into a battle no more than a furlong and a half from home. If that race has meant he’s need a rest/break since July 23rd and being his only 3rd run since the beginning of June he’s a weak horse.Blackbeard to conquer the World
August 30, 2016 at 22:20 #1261691I noticed money coming for Minding in this and had a speculation at 5/1.
She has come in the past couple of days and is a best price 3/1 now.
Having said that I didn’t fancy Harzand at all, it seemed sensible to back against him here.
Almanzor is respected but Minding has looked the business this season.
I suspect Aidan knows that US Army Ranger hasn’t got the pace for this.
Rain would bring Harzand and Hawkbill into the mix but hopefully decent ground will see Minding in there with a good shout and Ryan won’t make it awkward in this company.
Paddy Power only go 7/4 Minding and that could be a sign they feel she is definitely going to take her chance. I feel 3/1 will beat SP for those willing to speculate. Fingers crossed for a run now and no rain
Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.
August 31, 2016 at 00:07 #1261697The ground will play its part in deciding, as fast ground would mean that the Matron wouldn’t be a sufficient test of stamina for Minding (and would suit Alice Springs) and the Champion might be too sharp for USAR.
August 31, 2016 at 12:39 #1261726No 3/1 left on Minding now and only a couple of scraps of 5/2. Generally she is 2/1 and Harzand as big as 7/2 now.
Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.
August 31, 2016 at 14:15 #1261734Racebets go 20/1 for Minding to win this and the Arc
If She runs in this and the field cuts up she could well end up being odds on here making the 20/1 for the double a fair price.Blackbeard to conquer the World
September 1, 2016 at 07:58 #1261772Harzand will win.
September 1, 2016 at 10:24 #1261778What’s the weather forecast Judge…?
If they get no rain it’s a possibility he won’t run and if he does 10f on quick ground will be a tough race for him.Blackbeard to conquer the World
September 1, 2016 at 12:18 #1261783Ireland in September it always rains
