“He’s probably got enough in credit to see the season out at least”.

Probably. But when your retained owner is criticising you in public, it seldom ends well.

Stott is an OK jockey but not top class. His agent has done a good job talking him up.

Scott was probably confident his horse would stay the 7f but in the going struggled. Maybe he misjudged the going. The pacemaker went far too quickly probably worried Henry would get an easy lead. I’d say the whole team got it wrong not just stott. Plus Henry far better than was thought beforehand.

Constantly sacking jockeys very rarely does any good as the new jockey takes time to get used to the set up. Who would replace him. The best jocks aren’t available hence why gosden hasn’t got a stable jockey.

King Of Steel is a very good horse and will almost certainly be better next year. I doubt they will struggle to find a top jockey to ride him wherever he goes (which doesn’t mean that I think that Amo is justified in their criticism).

Nor am I convinced that Luxembourg wouldn’t have beaten Auguste Rodin if Heffernan hadn’t virtually stopped riding 20 yards shy of the line. Even looked across at Ryan as if to weigh up stud values!

I don’t think Amo Racing should dismiss Stott. Most of the other top jockeys already have retainers, so who would they get that is better?*

But when an owner publicly criticises the ride his jockey gave his best horse by far, that cannot be good for the jockey. It must play on his mind the next time he rides in a big race.

I believe RTE’s pundits were also very critical of the ride (and of Hollie Doyle’s ride as well) when they reviewed the race yesterday.

*I gave Billy Lee a favourable mention on Saturday. A far better jockey than Stott. And thinking of Billys..no, he has only just lost his claim…

I must admit I did not think there was anything wrong at the time. On watching it again, maybe Heffernan has not entirely gone for broke but it does not look anywhere near as bad as the ride he gave Adelaide River in the Irish Derby.

But it is not a good look for the sport when the biggest stable in Europe has seen its main horse win two prestigious Group 1s this year with people whispering if the runners up have been given a sufficiently strong ride.

Some of the conspiracy theories on here regarding BallyDoyle are getting as bad as Trumps stolen election stories.

    From Racing Post…

Kevin Stott will no longer be riding as retained jockey to Amo Racing after revealing he had been sacked by the owner in a text message on Monday.

Stott said “I was informed this morning that I will no longer be riding for Amo Racing. It was obviously very disappointing news but a reason for the decision was not given to me, so there isn’t a lot I can say.”

Is Amo Racing becoming the new Wildenstein?

I read earlier that only 3 of the 14 horses that ran in this year’s 2,000 Guineas have won a race since: Auguste Rodin, Flight Plan and Little Big Bear. At Newmarket, they finished 12th, 13th and 14th!
