I had a dream last night….ZZZZZZZzzzzzzz
Coolmore to beat Minding and becomes the best horse Aiden has ever trained…
It was poor Irish commentary again mind you so he could of got it wrong.

May 22, 2016 at 10:22 #1247981Tanaza looks a tempting each-way bet.
May 22, 2016 at 10:55 #1247983I had typed this up and was about to open a thread on the race, I see you have already obliged
Nathan. Anyway, here’s my tuppence worth…….I spent a good bit of time last night watching the last few runs of most in this. I’ve come
to the conclusion……hang onto your hats for this, that Minding should win. Having said that
2/7 doesn’t exactly float my boat and if there is to be the slightest chink in her armour it’s
that she doesn’t want it too soft, and it could be.ASHADIHAN was the first I looked at, simply starting top to bottom…..not because I fancied her,
but I can’t be having a horse that looks like it doesn’t travel well and is pushed from halfway,
which is exactly how she ran last time out at Lingfield in the Chartwell Fillies Stakes. She did
get the job done, and I see this morning that Jamie Spencer says she didn’t like it much at
Lingfield, but it’s not the kind of performance I want to see going into a classic.I gave COOL THUNDER the once over, ready to dismiss her, as having had only one run over
6f at 2 years is not what you’re looking for as a build up to this. But I have to say that that one
run was as good as any of the form showed by many at that stage. Admittedly she didn’t beat any
world beaters at Naas, but it was the way she travelled, you could spot her as the winner after
2f and when she was asked to pick up she took off, cruising to a 6 1/2 length victory. So all she
has to have done is train on, get the distance, handle soft ground when she won on g/f and be fit
enough not having run for 7 months, apart from that it should be easy. I’m under no illusions that
it’s taking a HUGE leap in the dark, but she could be, as they say, anything. I thought I was doing
ok taking an e/w 50/1 last night…..I see you can get 66s today.Coolmore is a lot more exposed, and good horse that she is, I’m not overly impressed by her form.
She would have to have come on a lot from her last run in the Nell Gwyn, and I think she’s another
one of O’Brien’s that hasn’t lived up to the billing.NOW OR NEVER is seen in the market as the biggest threat to MINDING, I don’t see it that way. If you
are going to fancy NON, you would have to fancy JET SETTING on his easy 3 length
victory over NON in the Leopardstown 1000 Guineas Trial in April. A lot has been made on NOW OR NEVER’s
last easy win in the Derrinstown Stud 1000 Guineas Trial, and it was a good win. The official version is
[” Chased leaders, 3rd halfway, headway on outer from under 3f out to lead from 2f out, soon clear and
in command 1f out, eased well inside final furlong, easily (op 7/4 tchd 15/8)”]I’ve watched this a few times, and whilst she did have the race in the bag it’s the “eased well inside
final furlong, easily” that I have a problem with. She undoubtedly was eased, but the feeling I got was
that after she burst clear, she didn’t have a lot left and Fallon eased her home, which could look like
she was simply being eased whilst having a ton in the tank, but I’m definitely not convinced. She could
go on and make me look like a bit of an eejit, but she’s not for me. JET SETTING on the other hand looks
more convincing, and was arguably a little unlucky in the 2000 Guineas not to finish a bit closer, having
traveled well for a long way on ground that would have been a bit on the fast side for her. She will be
in her element here on the soft ground. Unlike COOL THUNDER, I seem to have got ahead of the bookies with
her. I took the 16/1 last night, she has been gambled down to as low as 10/1, but Betvictor still have
14/1 on offer, that’s a good bet.PRETTY PERFECT seems to be all the rage this morning, Pricewise saw to that, but she was trounced by
ZHUKOVA on her favoured soft ground last time out at Naas, so she doesn’t stick out like a sore thumb
to me.TANAZA has very decent form, and comfortably beat MINDING last year, although that was on their first
appearance. She has decent form and would come into calculations, other that the fact that the ground
has gone against her, I wouldn’t be surprised to see her withdrawn later today.Best of luck
May 22, 2016 at 11:07 #1247986Thanks for that BigG. Happens that I just backed Cool Thunder (and didn’t get the 66 either…) so it gives me a bit of hope. At least we know the stable’s in form!
May 22, 2016 at 11:15 #1247987Best of luck with that Tonge, it would be some double for Prendergast and Hayes.
Fingers crossed
May 22, 2016 at 12:12 #1247991Cool Thunder is 28/1 with B365 w/o Minding – seems a punt worth having?

Hi Oscar, as I mentioned earlier, it’s speculative and she has a lot to prove, but her one run
was impressive and if she has trained on then e/w 3 places without Minding is worth a shout in
my book. I don’t think Kevin Predergast would throw her in here if he thought she would be an
embarrassment so I’m assuming she is showing something at home.May 22, 2016 at 12:42 #1247993Just as an interest bet for something to watch I have backed RADIANTLY and TANAZA e/w small and them both w/o the fav each way too!!
Not confident but had to back something against the fav when only one of the last six favourites have won this!!
Good Luck Guys
May 22, 2016 at 12:52 #1247998Thanks to your tip, BigG, I had a look at CT‘s only race and she looked to have a bit of size to her. Also backed Tanaza e/w thanks to yourself and RobRoy’s Ghost. Gratified to see them contract majorly since, and win, lose or draw I’m happy with that position!
May 22, 2016 at 13:13 #1247999Minding turned over.
There doesn’t seem to be any fluke about the result though. Jet Setting’s form is all on soft ground and the right horse in the betting came third. Front two came miles clear. I’d say Jet Setting is a very high class filly when she gets her conditions.

I agree IBR, I think she looks an impressive filly with enough cut, I was really happy with that result.
The Irish 2000 and 1000 have been better to me than the home version.Oscar, I think COOL THUNDER ran a cracking race for only her second race, I’m sorry she couldn’t
have gone one place better to land your bet without Minding. Definitely more to come from her.May 22, 2016 at 13:34 #1248001I thought Minding was just going to grind it out today but she couldn’t get there. Slower horses and better ground at Epsom should see her bounce back to success.
Now Or Never was/is a filly I thought had a lot to do to be in Minding’s class. Yes, she won easily last time but it looked a very weak race and generally the public get carried away with easy winners and the phrase “you can only beat what’s put in front of you” gets an airing. This was tougher today and we probably saw her true level here.
As IBRacing said, Jet Setting has some mean form of soft/heavy and it is interesting that my French 1000 Guineas filly La Cressonniere met Jet Setting on Heavy ground at Chantilly last November and didn’t just beat today’s winner but comfortably brushed her aside by more than two lengths. That looks a nice bit of form now in what was only a Listed contest at the time, as there are now three 1000 Guineas winners tied into the form lines.
Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.
May 22, 2016 at 13:38 #1248002ps I keep getting gyp for criticising Coolmore (The filly) but I feel I can just about finally rest my case on that one now. No offence was ever meant, just my own feeling about her talent level and trying to let people know that she might continue to be expensive to follow.
Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.
May 22, 2016 at 13:49 #1248004You cant rest your case yet Steve.
Not until she gets thrashed over 10 and 12 furlongs, if the genius ever runs her over that distance.Gaelic Warrior Gold Cup Winner 2026

There doesn’t seem to be any fluke about the result though.
The excuses have already started: apparently, she skipped a piece of work to come here (so they obviously thought that she could win the race even short of her best) and then banged her head in the stalls.

I make it around a 120 performance from the first two. That’s pretty good stuff so I don’t think Minding has run below form at all, regardless of what Aidan says.
Isn’t Air Force Blue his best miler ever?
May 22, 2016 at 15:14 #1248009Oh and the RP write up has Aidan saying her sinus burst too. Poor old Minding.
