Homeless Songs, one of my ante-post bets for the 1,000 Guineas, drifts like a barge before winning the Irish 1,000 Guineas by a street.
And I didn’t have a penny on her – off to have a stern word with myself….I may be gone some time!

It's the "Millwall FC" of Point broadcasts: "No One Likes Us - We Don't Care"May 22, 2022 at 15:53 #1598857Pissed in as well
Was a bit dubious of her backing up her debut run after not building on it last season
Looks capable of living up to her exceptional breeding

May 22, 2022 at 15:54 #1598858That was a case of a miler thrashing horses wanting further. ;o)
May 22, 2022 at 15:57 #1598861I hope so as Tuesday is part of the “Oaksfolio!”

May 22, 2022 at 16:04 #1598864Concert Hall looked to be crying out for further but Tuesday not so much (her breeding is mixed in that some of her siblings needed further and others didn’t).
Ground permitting the Coronation at Ascot looks like it could be epic what with her, Cachet and the returning Inspiral.
May 22, 2022 at 16:11 #1598866I can see Tuesday going for those races in America that Santa Barbara won last year LD73, Coolmore seem to always send runners for those 2 races.
May 22, 2022 at 17:00 #1598875Its a good option as historically the G1s on turf out in the US tend to take less winning so horses that are G2 level (that get found out at G1 level in Europe) can potentially farm those type races especially if you have a horse that acts on quick ground.
Surprised more English trainers don’t try to take advantage of it especially given some of the German G1s that were targeted (due to a similar lack of depth back in the day) are starting to become more competitive.
May 22, 2022 at 18:24 #1598892I think Homeless Songs wins the Coronation Stakes by the length of Ascot High Street.
I am gutted – GUTTED I tell ya! – she didn’t go to Newmarket.
I’m victim of an ante-post CURSE this spring!

We’ll see where we are but we might look at Epsom with her. Concert Hall came home well. We’ll see how she comes out of the race but there is a very strong possibility she will go to Epsom.”

That’s very shrewd of you Mike, love that bet!
Gutted for you Ian, at least you know your judgement was right, if that’s any consolation :(
May 22, 2022 at 21:24 #1598901FML, Ben!
Not to worry.
Btw, I hope Mike means the Coronation Stakes – the Coronation Cup is 1m4f on Epsom Downs for 4yo+!
I think Coroebus might struggle to give Homeless Songs 3lb if they ever met at 1m btw.

Actually, listening to her trainer… might be best to wait to back her for the Coronation Stakes.
“Difficult to keep right” and looking at her form is possibly best with a bigger break than she gets between now and Royal Ascot.I would not be confident of getting a run.
Value Is EverythingMay 22, 2022 at 21:29 #1598904Oops, yes Coronation Stakes.
May 22, 2022 at 22:24 #1598909I could see her beating native trail
Not sure she’d beat coroebus
May 23, 2022 at 02:04 #1598934Depends on what Coroebus does at Ascot but given the sex allowance and the fact that she looks capable of bettering her provisional RPR of 120, he might need to run to at least 125 if not more if they do meet.
Have to say after her debut win as a two year old I was disappointed with her two subsequent runs but there may have been reasons for them and bear in mind her second run came 66 days after her debut so the needing a bigger gap between runs might be misleading as there was just 50 days from her seasonal debut this season to yesterday’s race.
I do think fast ground could potential be an issue, which you can easily get at Ascot and although the official ground at Longchamp was listed as good to soft for their 1000 the time was 0.48sec faster than standard so maybe closer to the faster side of good (mentioned as a reason she missedit) whereas yesterday it was good to yielding with a time 2.21sec slower than standard – it happened to be the slowest ground she has run on to date and produced her most impressive win….coincidence???
May 23, 2022 at 03:06 #1598936I don’t think she ran to 120 personally
The 2nd, 3rd and 4th didn’t run to anything over 110 in my opinion
Tuesday, concert hall and agartha have likely run to their 107-109 ratings so she’s probably run to 115-118
Don’t think this is a vintage bunch of fillies that she’s beaten
Id fancy coroebus will improve a few lbs on his 121 next start so an uphill task for the filly in my book
