Brave Inca and Hardy Eustace showed today that age and injury are no barrier if the fire is still there (It was great to see Brave Inca back – Over a shorter trip he may well have won today).
Having said that if it is a risk they should retire him. They were right to at least have another go though.
December 1, 2008 at 18:17 #193580I felt that their initial reaction after the world hurdle was to retire him and that the decision to carry on was an afterthought; that’s why I thought that it was a mistake to bring him back this year..sometimes an initial gut reaction can be the right one; sometimes best to think it through for a while..it’s never easy..I suppose I have such memories of Dessies last race and One Man that sometimes it’s nice to see a horse go out at the top of his game even if there are still niggling doubts about it.
yes, dito.unfortunately,i missed the race on saturday, but he doesnt owe anyone anything, and if it were to be,he should get the retirement,he deserves.yes,i remember dessie and one man too very well.especially one mans tragic end was heartbreaking..so,if they are good horsepeople(and to me they are 100%!),they should retire him.

December 2, 2008 at 00:44 #193645I think I saw O’Reagan look down as if something was wrong earlier in the race.

December 2, 2008 at 01:03 #193655Am I missing something here? Have they actually announced his retirement or not?
December 2, 2008 at 21:36 #193854Not as yet they haven’t retired him. He has been given a thorough examination by the connections vet. The vet has advised six weeks box rest. They will follow the instructions and a decision will be made after the six weeks of rest, about any further racing.
