In case I’m not around to post in the year 2025, I tried to imagine what I might be writing about then, in a thread entitled ‘An Old Man’s Memories’ – so hear goes:-
Well folks, that’s the 2025 Cheltenham Festival done and dusted, and what a remarkable performance in the Platinum Cup by Son of Denman. Who would have imagined that only six months after a triple by-pass operation he would win in a canter. A lot of the credit must go to his trainer JinnyJ who came out of exile three years ago and is now leading the flat and jumps trainer table with prize money of over £20 million this year alone.
Son of Denman’s usual rider, Samantha Thomas was jocked off by Champion Jockey, Ryan Mania, who is seeking his fifth consecutive title and continues to court sanctions from the stewards by signing autotographs at each fence. Such is the price of fame, Ryan, but I do enjoy your cookery programmes on television.
Also, spotted at the Festival was our old friend Luke Harvey who rarely goes racing since winning fifty million Euros on the Global Placepot Rollover. More often than not he can be seen in Monte Carlo with a bevvy of blonde beauties hanging on his every word, "When I was just a poor but likeable jockey…. "
Now that we have 24 hour horseracing here in the English Republic and Ladbrokes offer en-suite sleeping facilities to OddsOn cardholders, it reminds me as to how my Mother used to say to me, "You spend so much time in that betting shop, why don’t you just take your bed there?"
This forum goes from strength to strength and I see Corm has just welcomed our billionth member from the Chinese Democrat Union. Bob’s competitions continue to be as popular as ever, though graciously PAT123 now gives other competitors a six week start, yet by week seven he’s already leading the field, even passing the random drug testing introduced since one member claimed foul play after failing to find a winner all season. Harry expects to have the 2009 league tables ready by next week, hopefully.
As most of you know, I’ve recently served out my ASBO having been the first forum member to be found guilty of consistently posting pointless points. Even the Judge said I was a danger to decent intelligent Forum members.
That’s it for now, fellow members. The Pearly Gates are opening and who’s that inviting me in? "Is it God?" I ask?
"No, my son, it’s Fist of Fury."February 25, 2009 at 02:50 #212205I think you might be entering the other place.
February 26, 2009 at 00:30 #212351You forgot to mention Paul Nicholls training the winner of the 2005 Derby for owner Sir Harry Findlay who then announces that his plan for the winner is as follows
King George at Ascot followed by The Arc and then he goes to Newmarket for the Champion Stakes which will leave him spot on for the Wensleydale Hurdle at Wetherby.
Royal Ascot continues to flourish with its new opening day on Monday which contains an 8 race Jumps card.
York finally sorts out the drainage problems which led this years Ebor Festival being run at Yarmouth.
The Cheltenham Festival now in a new 9 day format runs according to plan with Ted Caine winning the new race The Gloucester Selling Hurdle over 3m4f for 0-90s with a prize fund of £70,000
Godolphin finally win a coveted G1 race with new trainer Carl Llewellyn, although the AON Chase was was not what they expected.
