I may be missing something but, except for fast pic, on course players who is the target here ???
November 5, 2007 at 10:40 #123023No particular target market here for Betfair. Just providing more opportunities for those interested.
November 5, 2007 at 10:46 #123025Can’t imagine the liquidity will be enough for the fast pic on-course boys when they can hoover much bigger amounts in the win market.
November 5, 2007 at 11:43 #123032Indeed David
So unless there are loads of in running mugs out there waiting to give these guys 5/10/15 length advantage on a place bet too , who is going to play these markets???
November 5, 2007 at 12:03 #123035Two of the features of in-running markets is that people use them to get bets on that they failed to place before the off and that they also see them as a valid extension of the timeframe in which to hedge positions etc.
That alone will not create much liquidity on place markets but it should be a start.
When this has been trialled previously it has not been quite the lost cause that some seem to imagine. It would just have been nice for Betfair to have given some warning before they ditched them.
November 5, 2007 at 12:30 #123038Cant see it being of much interest to normal punters, but it will be even more skewed to the fast pics/on course boys than the win market so there will a few more quid for them to mop up I guess
