Fatally injured at Huntingdon in the 12:50
January 25, 2024 at 14:30 #1678467Another swinging leg only described as looked to go wrong.
Pefectly bred for the game and jumped well until that injury.
May he rest in peace.
January 25, 2024 at 18:44 #1678488Have no fear duly corrected for you…….
Raced in second, not fluent 6th, pulled up quickly after 7th, looked to go wrong with a catastrophic distal condylar fracture of the third metacarpus/metatarsus with jockey pulling him up at the first available opportunity. Vet quickly on scene to euthanize the unfortunate horse, which was rather disappointing as the gelding was only a 6 year old and had a racing career and long retirement in front of him. Flowers and condolences can be sent to, c/o Nicky Henderson, Seven Barrows, Lambourn, Berkshire. (op 13/8 tchd 7/4)
January 25, 2024 at 19:03 #1678493Griff, I’ve often agreed when you’ve challenged some of the more outlandish statements on these memorial threads. I’m always very wary re apportioning blame; there is unavoidable risk and fatalities are inevitable. But I do think a simple acknowledgement when a horse has died is very little to ask.
As for more detailed information on equine deaths on the racecourse, I believe this should be included in stewards’ reports as standard. The sport should be showing that it takes the welfare of its equine participants seriously.
RIP Immortal
January 25, 2024 at 19:05 #1678494Just fatally injured would be fine or some sort of weekly update like they do in Ireland.
January 25, 2024 at 19:31 #1678498Look griff, this is proper racing information:
Everything else with less analysis is crap. But, for some people still living in the 18th century the RP comments are enough.
And by the way, a lot of in-running comments are simply lies. How come they never spot a non-trier on their own? That’s also something that some racing people don’t want to be mentioned too often.
Oh and please tell me what kind of flowers Nicky loves. I think he is a flowers man…..

100% and it’s ridiculous that they don’t. Considering they contain the likes of “J.Ockey, the rider of Mark Dropper, reported that his mount made a respiratory noise/ never travelled/ made a mistake at the 5th/hung left throughout/ doesn’t like the band that are booked to provide entertainment afterwards” they should contain the basics of deaths and causes if known.
January 26, 2024 at 03:11 #1678544Every death in NZ or OZ is detailed on stipes report within hour of racing concluding , if a horse collapsed and died a full autopsy and vets reports looked into . The country tracks and picnics have full stipes reports too , don’t believe autopsy in every case though .
I looked at stipes for Wiley Post death earlier this week to see what was noted , I actually couldn’t even find a Wolves Stipes rep for the night. Surely all deaths are noted on reports ? Nothing was noted in RP in running comments .
Not sure how racing can make itself any safer , Iam mid fifties , my gut feeling is jumps will be gone in UK within my lifetime . -
