“Maybe Baaeed should be aimed at the 2023 Champion Hurdle”
Nah! … Constitution Hill would destroy him 😂
August 18, 2022 at 13:10 #1611587The Arc and Irish Champion now under consideration!
But I will believe it when I see it.

I checked the ante post market the other day and saw our great hope has been slashed into 7/4 across the boards now! It will be curries all round for the racing forum chaps come mid March!

Think I’ll just stick a tenner on the 13/2 and lose it if he doesn’t runHow fast will they go Ginge. Would they not be cutting their own throats whilst Baaeed sits out the back travelling like a beaut

Interesting – if he runs, what price will he be in the day with: the British bookmakers, at Betfair Exchange, and on the Pari-Mutuel?

If (he won’t) Baaeed runs in the Arc then they’ll go optimum (equal or very slightly more than equal) fractions throughout, Nathan. So that they’ll be slowing in the final yards. That way you nullify the Baaeed turn of foot and maximise the test of stamina… And that test will be enhanced still further if the rains come.
What price will Baaeed be?
All depends on who runs and what the ground is.
Obviously the firmer the going the better chance he has of staying.
On good-soft with an up to standard field I suspect you’ll get quite a bit better than the current 11/10 NRNB. The current all-in 13/2 is obviously all about the significant chance of him not running.
If coming out of yesterday’s race well then suspect the Irish Champion could be next.Value Is EverythingAugust 18, 2022 at 16:51 #1611667It’s like Vautour going for the Ryanair rather than the Gold Cup; a penalty kick, but missing on greatness
August 18, 2022 at 18:51 #1611693So Allaho isn’t a modern-day great because he’s never run in the Gold Cup?
If you say so.
August 18, 2022 at 19:33 #1611699The owners care about his greatness in the breeding sheds
He’s just been given a 135 official rating at least I think I read that somewhere
He doesn’t even need to run again
They will be hoping he earns them hundreds of millions and that he will produce sons who make them many more millions at stud
August 18, 2022 at 20:14 #1611704It’s the greed for money that’s ruining the sport.
August 18, 2022 at 20:20 #1611706Tbf it used to be far worse.
When I first got interested in racing Classic winners were routinely packed straight off to stud – Robert Sangster in particular was a demon for it.
There were owners back then who would never have raced either Frankel or Baaeed at four.

For example, imagine if Zarkava would’ve stayed in training at 4 and, with luck, opposed Sea The Stars in the 2009 Arc. The list would be very long indeed.August 18, 2022 at 21:12 #1611721In my world I would go Irish Champion Stakes and depending how he comes out of it, I might opt for the Arc (1st choice) or even a very crazy Breeders’ Cup Classic (2nd choice) bid. If all went well I would even consider to run him at five. Depending on who is around next year…..
August 18, 2022 at 21:23 #1611723I’d be taking the Arc-Champion Hurdle-Boat Race route myself.

Wouldn’t do the Classic. Keeneland’s dirt course isn’t the superhighway it used to be but it’s still dirt. OTOH, if they’re concerned the Arc will be a bog they’ll be sure to get much better ground in the BC Turf.
