In beating Prosperous Voyage (OR 97) by a long-looking three and three quarter (looked value for more like five to me) lengths, I would say Inspiral has run to a career-best so far of 107, up from 104.

She is entitled to shorten for the Classics, but not in my view to any less than 6/1 for the 1,000 Guineas and 8/1 for The Oaks.

I am writing this immediately after the race with no updates bookie quotes to hand.

Just been on Oddschecker and seeing 6/1 and 10/1 respectively and tbf I don’t think that is an overreaction.

Reach For The Moon goes into tomorrow’s Champagne Stakes at Doncaster a top-priced 16/1 for the 2,000 Guineas and just 11/1 for The Derby.

His chief market rival Lusail is 33/1 for the Guineas.

Reach For The Moon has a quite beautiful old-fashioned middle-distance pedigree, being by Sea The Stars out of a Sadler’s Wells mare.

He is a fast-evaporating 4/5 for tomorrow with Lusail easy out to 5/2, perhaps surprising as the latter is a July Stakes and Gimcrack winner who has already won at this trip (though it may be as far as he wants to go).

Though he’s by a Guineas winner, I view Reach For The Moon as more of a Derby prospect and he could be runner up in tomorrow’s 7f contest and still look a fine sort for Epsom over 1m4f next June.

If Reach For The Moon wins tomorrow I would expect him to be 8/1 for the 2,000 Guineas and 5/1 for The Derby and if he wins easily he could be shorter still.

Should Lusail win, I would expect hastily-revised 2,000 Guineas quotes of around 14/1.

Over in Ireland, Nathan may be hoping Maritime Wings obliges to make old Pointless look marginally less of a one paced front-running old boat.

    We shall see!

Though the ante-post quotes have been ludicrously short, I wouldn’t entirely give up on Reach For The Moon as a Derby prospect after that.

He’s not quick enough for the 2,000 Guineas, but his pedigree has middle distances written all over it for me.

So far today, the last two runners up to Point Lonsdale have both got beat.

The Moyglare and National Stakes at The Curragh today might shake up the Classic markets.

Point Lonsdale is currently a top-priced 7/1 for the 2,000 Guineas and 8/1 for The Derby.

If he wins the National Stakes – for which he is currently 8/11 best – today I expect him to be 5/1 for Newmarket and 6/1 for Epsom.

Shergar was 8/1 for The Derby AFTER his won the Sandown Classic Trial by TEN lengths in April as a 3YO.

I will just leave it there, value seekers…

If you took the initial prices on PL you can always trade out now. Value for nothing. I only bet in pounds and ounces so will wait and see out the season at least.

Native Trail highly impressive, but 5/1 for the 2,000 Guineas is miserly.

The race is almost eight months away, he’s not absolutely certain to stay a mile and I remember Shadeed being briefly 6/1 for the Guineas after winning the Craven by six lengths just three weeks before the Classic.

Bookies seldom offer value ante post nowadays.

Native Trail pedigree. By Oasis Dream. Unraced dam, her sire won G1s at 8f and 9f. The dam’s mother produced horses that won over 2 miles.

Suggests to me that finding 1 more furlong is within reach.

I think on balance he will get the Rowley Mile, which isn’t as stiff a mile as some think anyway.

Can’t be having these single-figure quotes for The Derby, though.

Luxembourg is 10/1 for The Derby after an impressive win in the Beresford Stakes.

He is a Camelot half brother to two winners over 1m4f.

I would have said 16/1 to 20/1 would have been fair, but 10s looks short for Epsom to me.

He is also 20/1 for the 2,000 Guineas and it’s worth pointing out his sire did win the Guineas.

Perfect Power is 12/1 for the 2,000 Guineas after winning the Middle Park, but I am not sure if he will stay a mile and he will need to train on better than his speedy sire did.
