Thought I’d open a thread on the the latest TV show.
Not been my best year on reality TV – Big Brother only had one big pay day, and X Factor’s been very mediocre betting-wise and talent-wise.
Not hoping for too much from this show as traditionally (!) it’s been my worst reality show for profit.
The lessons from past years are:
1. This programme is very carefully edited to make the celebs fit pre-ordained roles as much as possible.
2. The ‘good, decent’, girl or boy wins.
3. They are ably supported by the mad characters and especially by the self-appointed leaders.
Seems to me Huggy and Janet Street Porter could be the ‘leaders’. I’m struggling to find the ‘decent’ bloke just yet.
I have an early notion that the ‘decent’ girl could be Nancy Sorrel. She’d be my bet to win early doors (plus top female), with JSP and Huggy decent long-term trades.
November 23, 2004 at 11:37 #89016I’m beginning to worry about Nancy being blanked out by the editing. Hopefully she can push herself forward a bit – perhaps as Janet’s buddy.
If not I may be forced into a saver on first eviction, which otherwise should be a straight fight between Sheila and Sophie.
Joe Pasquale didn’t do much last night, but looks like the self-deprecating chirpy chappie required. The editors pulled out all the stops to allow Phil Tufnell to lead from start to finish – Joe looks likely to do the same.
Janet remains a safe bet to stay a while. But Huggy – well he just isn’t Huggy is he.
November 24, 2004 at 14:27 #89017I’ve tried so hard to get into this but just cannot, I was going to bet Joe as I find him hilarious but the short price warrents no interest. I think I’ve overdosed this year on betting reality shows and have not had the usual returns all year which I think is due to producers playing with their editing too much, or it could just be the public now don’t make ‘normal’ choices (hence G4 still being in the competition of x factor!).
November 25, 2004 at 11:16 #89018Yeah know what you mean DL.
Historically it’s also never really work sending a latecomer into the environment.
And this time it’s completely screwed my bets up!
November 29, 2004 at 12:44 #89019I stopped watching the show over the weekend, but am now hoping that ‘saver’ on Nancy going first does the business! Evens from 10s.
That’s just about enough to make me tune in again.
And at least the "jug-eared moaning stick" has gone.
