Gaelic Warrior Gold Cup Winner 2026
April 10, 2017 at 16:10 #1296392lol Nath, I could fair shift in those days, and fancied my chances, but had too much weight. Story of my life
April 10, 2017 at 20:17 #1296408Normally do three National picks – occasionally four (any more suggests that I haven’t got a Scooby…)
Can’t remember all of them but winners to date are as follows:-
1994 Minniiehoma (other selections were Just So (aka Just Slow!) and Moorcroft Boy – wish I’d done the tricast)
1995 Royal Athelete (took 66/1 in the morning)
1998 Earth Summit
2002 Bindaree
2008 Comply or Die
2017 One For Arthur ends the drought!Annoyingly I seem to have suffered seconditus over the years too:-
Memories get a bit hazy during the 90’s but remember the following:-
1992 Romany King
1994 Just So (see above)
2004 Clan Royal (swerving all over the shop!)
2007 McKelvey
2009 Comply of Die
2012 Sunnyhillboy (by a nostril!)
2015 Saint AreRoll on next year!
April 11, 2017 at 13:10 #12964621997 Naathen Lad (both) Unplaced
Would have won if this had been run on the Saturday
April 11, 2017 at 13:32 #1296467Sporadically had bets in the 90s and my only draw was Romany King 2nd in 1992.
By the mid noughties I was starting to think it was a piece of piss to pick the winner but since then things have been pretty barren. Win & places are :-
2003 – Monty’s Pass
2004 – Monty’s Pass (4th)
2005 – Hedgehunter
2006 – Numbersixvalverde & Hedgehunter (2nd)
2009 – My Will (3rd)
2010 – Black Apalachi (2nd) & Big Fella Thanks (4th)
2012 – Neptune Collonges, Seabass (3rd), Cappa Bleu (4th)
2013 – Cappa Bleu (2nd)
2014 – Balthazar King (2nd)
2015 – Saint Are (2nd)
2017 – Saint Are (3rd), Blaklion (4th)As I usually now back 4 or even 5, its not a great record but thanks to 2012 I’m probably still in profit in the race.
April 11, 2017 at 23:42 #1296497I have only ever backed three winners of this in my life!!
GRITTAR
ROUGH QUEST
PINEAU DE REAnd I have only been betting on it for forty four years!!

My best hard luck story was Garrison Savannah in 1991. I backed it ante post at 25/1 then it won the Gold Cup and to be honest iwas glad it turned up at Aintree and it ended up about 7/1 and finished second Grrrrrrrrrrr!!
