8/1 Ferns Lock looks fair the way that’s just won at Thurles.
Billaway is 11 now and always seems to need the race first time out, but this 6yo has pulverised him.

It's the "Millwall FC" of Point broadcasts: "No One Likes Us - We Don't Care"January 22, 2023 at 16:24 #1631895Wouldn’t be surprised, as same trainer, if…
Vaucelet – Cheltenham
Winged Leader – Aintree
Ferns Lock – one for the futureJanuary 22, 2023 at 17:55 #1631903Sounds like ferns lock won’t be running here
January 22, 2023 at 18:00 #1631904So I’m reading, FF.
But trainers have been known to change their mind and if this one did I think he’d have a favourite’s chance.
He’s beaten Billaway by further and easier than Winged Leader did in this race last year and Vaucelet, while talented, isn’t always the most fluent of jumpers.

It's the "Millwall FC" of Point broadcasts: "No One Likes Us - We Don't Care"January 30, 2023 at 17:51 #1632992Ok it might sound like madness but Benny’s King won a Hunter chase today basically with a young lass hanging on , would Skelton have a go here with a decent amateur ?
January 30, 2023 at 17:55 #1632994In 24 starts he has run once in March and twice in April and that was in his early days

January 30, 2023 at 21:14 #1633014Does anyone know if David Kemp is planning to run Law of Gold in this?
I can’t seem to find any news, as he is only priced up by 3 firms though I suppose not but he did give Vaucelet a good race at Stratford last year and ran ok in the 2020 edition (along with a stinker in 2021).
Wouldn’t expect him to win but would like to see him have another crack at it and you never know, this can be a funny old race.
January 30, 2023 at 21:39 #1633016He’s a horse who tends to need the run first time out and I’d say time is already running out.

It's the "Millwall FC" of Point broadcasts: "No One Likes Us - We Don't Care"January 30, 2023 at 21:57 #1633019Indeed, in previous years they have started him out in February when the ground gets a bit better so I was hoping to see him entered somewhere in the next few weeks.
I thought it might be at Wetherby on Saturday but they have swerved that for whatever reason.
January 30, 2023 at 22:10 #1633020He’s only once ever won first time out and that was a Point at Horseheath, a right-handed undulating stiff track.
The horse stays very well, but is from a yard which tends to take it steady and unless it runs in the next week or two I’d say the chances of it being fully fit in time for this race are slim.

It's the "Millwall FC" of Point broadcasts: "No One Likes Us - We Don't Care"February 7, 2023 at 21:50 #1634452Ferns Lock and Famous Clermont could potentially have this to themselves, but neither is likely to run.
Prior to Wincanton, Famous Clermont had absolutely bolted in by a staggering 30 lengths on the bit at Larkhill and the runner up and third franked the form with creditable efforts at Charing and back at Larkhill on Sunday.

Chezza will be pulling his hair out, thinking..which one..
February 8, 2023 at 21:36 #1634665Nothing but sleepless nights await, Landafar.
Famous Clermont is entered at Buckfastleigh this coming Sunday – if he runs, I doubt if he’ll come off the bit, but I also doubt if he’ll be much better than 1/3.

February 8, 2023 at 21:59 #1634673It’s an interesting call, Nathan.
All I’d say is Vaucelet is a spring horse who is best on Good ground (it was Soft) and if it’s the same two jockeys Vaucelet will be 7lb better off as claims aren’t allowed in this race.
