August 26, 2009 at 21:13 #245942Great video. Except it was a total sham. Story is that Coolmore knew that Sheikh Mohammed wanted the horse so to have some fun at Sheikh Mohammed’s expense they bought him privately before the sale for about $4 million (knowing they could outbid Mohammed at any price). However, Ferguson (bidding for Mohammed) found out and kept bidding way over what his limit was knowing that Coolmore would have to keep going no matter what. This left Coolmore with some huge commissions to pay to the sale company.

August 26, 2009 at 23:21 #245974Just checked The Green Monkey’s form on Racing Post there. Why was all that money spent on one horse if it only ever ran 3 times and never ever won?

Ok Mr Sarcasm! What i meant was why was the horse such a big flop? What was so special about the horse for them to pay so much money?
August 27, 2009 at 00:02 #245981There was nowt special about the pedigree – it must have had exceptionally good conformation.
August 27, 2009 at 01:02 #245995I think he breezed a furlong in something like 9.7 as a yearling.
