Cheltenham is a huge week for me, as I’m sure it is for many others. Far and away the best time of year. I was hoping to go this year but unfortunately I’m not going to make the trip, and I’ve been talking to a few friends wondering how best to spend the week.
Last year I had a college field trip which disrupted my plans but before that my week would go as follows: Tuesday I’d go to the pub with friends for a few pints, watch the racing on a big screen and enjoy the great pub atmosphere. I’d spend Wednesday with the couple of friends of mine who are big in to their racing and watch in the comfort a living room somewhere on Channel 4. Thursday has generally been the day to have more than a few pints and make a night of it: for some reason Thursday was always a day where a good bunch of lads could be rounded up for the session. Friday then similar to Wednesday, except left wondering where the week has gone after the Gold Cup…
Not sure yet what I’ll do this year, I’m currently living in Wexford but thinking of going up to a few boys in Dublin for the festival.
How do you spend your week? Have you an annual routine or just take it as it comes?
February 25, 2014 at 21:09 #469212The first thing I do when the new year diaries come out is make sure no work is booked in for Cheltenham week.Like you say Tommy its the best festival of the year and my whole betting year is geared around it.Prior to the days of the exchanges I would expect to probably lose over the 4 days. Since I started Backing/Laying in running I can virtually guarantee a profit these days so my week is spent with my laptop sat on my knee in front of the telly.A round of golf in the morning helps take the edge off prior to the afternoons battle.I am a great believer in celebrating victory, particularly on Ante-Post wagers as its all about confidence and Cheltenham can kick you hard if you dont prepare. What is so frustrating these days is having to 2nd guess where your selection is going to run………

February 25, 2014 at 21:09 #469213Because I’m 99% sure that
Taquin de seul
has to go the Jewson route I’d make him my banker of the meeting and having taken all the double figure prices I can easily lay my stake off at odds-on in running should I wish,I can even lay some off for a guaranteed profit should I wish. Not my style though!

I’m definitely going to have to look into using Betfair next year. One of my own bankers, Felix Yonger, being well supported in that race at the moment but whether he goes there probably depends not only on his own well being but also that of Champagne Fever!
February 25, 2014 at 21:41 #469218I used to book the week off work but now I’m retired I don’t have to [hurrah!]. Go to Cheltenham on the Tuesday to get in ‘the zone’ then spend the rest of the week watching it on the telly. Up at the crack of dawn each day making selections; off to the bookies and then sit in front of the telly. Only trouble is this year I’m doing the school run on Thursday and Friday so will have to watch some of it on 4+1 [just not the same]. One thing that’s bothering me is that I always do well on the 3 mile handicap on the first day, but I’ve got a bad feeling that this year my run of bad luck so far this season is going to continue. I need to get the winner of that race

February 25, 2014 at 21:52 #469224regret not going again
then on my way home from work look at the faces of the people sat in the race traffic coming out of chelt all going the other way as I get close to home – wondering how my selections have done. Try and hide from the results during the day. Then pick my horses for the next day some of which I have already picked anyway. Dont know about this year as replays not immediately available – maybe someone will you tube it
I will do a full festival at some point but having been previous 3 days is enough.

Dangerous thing about youtube is the race winner is often in the video title.
February 25, 2014 at 22:03 #469228Bet365 do replays, as long as you have an account your fine you don’t need any money in it. You can watch each race about 40 minutes after they finish.

When God created Man he created a creature with Sexual Prowess a creature who will suffer from HTS (Heavy tata Syndrome) if he doesn’t release his tensions regularly.Tensions of betting on horses causes testosterone to flow and this releases pheromones,a smell Women find sexually attractive. However if this Sexually potent individual doesn’t shower twice a day those pheromones that turn women on can just as easily turn them off.’Ginger Minger’ is not a phrase I use lightly.
February 25, 2014 at 22:12 #469231Actually, I wouldn’t risk it Beau… There’s an awful dose of flu going around though.
