Sorry wrong BOD I think.
April 3, 2007 at 21:08 #49390Friggo,
Chalk moves? The scum? You’ll be claiming that they don’t push out any of the prices of the real contenders next and that their in-house presenters talk up these phantom gambles on SIS.
Sorry, but this conspiracy theory can be safely filed alongside ‘bears believed to sh*t in the woods’ and ‘ATR deliberately delay transmissions’. It’s strictly for paranoid crackpots.
April 3, 2007 at 21:31 #49391I’m sorry for being a bit naive. I’m only 20 at the end of the day. There’s really no need for the sarcastic sh*t. Although I didn’t genuinely think I was being very cynical, I pretty much believed it goes on, I just had no justification. You just don’t want to sound too much like Alan Ridley, what with the reception he’s had so far.
My favourite episode was ‘Bod and the Neural Correlates Rotation’
Classic stuff
April 3, 2007 at 21:50 #49395One thing I have noticed is that bookmakers ( especially Hills ) will come out and state that they have shortened the price of a horse because it is being backed by the shrewdies or the right faces or the people in the know.
It may just be a coincidence but these horses will often lose;)
April 3, 2007 at 22:09 #49397Fair play AR…Thanks for the answer…interesting stuff, good luck in your works.
April 4, 2007 at 09:32 #49399Friggo,
The riddler has already proved over the last 6 months that he’s mad as a hatter.. If you put a sane structured argument across you shouldn’t be derided for it.. I think Glenn was just being forthright. :)
April 4, 2007 at 09:51 #49401After reading the thoughts on this thread, let me add my $0.10 worth, hopefully my opinion will not add more fuel to an already heated debate..
For me this is all about your mental attitude toward the game.
Personally, in my fledgling career of punting (3 years) and after watching many races (sado that I am I record the days racing and review when I get home from work) , I have yet to witness a race which I thought “yepâ€ÂÂ
April 4, 2007 at 14:15 #49403That still leaves us 52/5 against it being totally straight.
Most judges would accept that as a majority. ;)
April 4, 2007 at 17:54 #49405There is not a "totally straight" option.

Ah, but that depends where you divide the results and if you decide the result is 52-5, 37-20 or 31-26!
Liars, damned liars and statisticians?
From my experience, and bearing in mind we are all horse racing enthusiasts, I find the results incredible and disturbing in equal measures. Mind you, I wouldn’t mind betting that the majority of those who reckon racing is ‘bent’ will be busy studying tomorrow’s cards and then staking their hard earned.

May 20, 2007 at 10:51 #49415Without specifiying any particular race, did anybody else get a distinctly "bent" feel to one of yesterday’s big races.
Just checking if it was just me
May 20, 2007 at 13:02 #49416A friend of mine used to say 90% are non triers and even if trying they would not win.
