January 5, 2013 at 10:14 #425339I see no place for horseracing at the Olympics largely for the reasons so eloquently put by Admiralofthefleet; but if it were to be introduced think it should be restricted to horses nurtured by the amateur owner/trainer/rider-or-offspring i.e the association between horse and connections is intimate, akin to showjumping and dressage
January 5, 2013 at 19:31 #425438In a way the cross country ride that comprises part of the Three day Eventing competition is something akin to horse racing. Although each horse goes round alone they are racing around the countryside against the clock over various obstacles in order to complete the course without time penalties. Imagine the Cheltenham XC Race without the other horses. This is as close as racing is going to get to the Olympics.
