Horse Racing must take advantage today

Barely any other sport is taking place, it has pride of place on itv4 and satellite tv, racing must use today wisely to promote itself, it is a shame itv haven’t promoted today’s racing to itv and instead are showing a repeat of Midsomer Murders.

This morning on LBC Andrew Pierce talking to a newspaper journalist said “what are you going to write on your back pages there is no football, no rugby, no cricket”.

Not once did the journalist say well there is a full racing programme.

The whole interview was there is no sport today it is a weird feeling.

Racing only has itself to blame if it can’t make the newspapers tomorrow.

If racing continues behind closed doors and we get to June/July with no other sport, I would expect 8-page Tuesday afternoon Pontefract pullouts from most newspapers.

The racing channels need to be free to air for the duration. Perhaps the bookies should contribute financially to that.
