Mastery 4-1 second favorite in Hong Kong… shocking. Crystal Capella at 6-1, I think that should come in, along with Jaguar Mail at 10s.
Americain looks set to go off at close enough to even money.

MASTERY romps home, sat in the box seat and powered away by 2.5 lengths. REDWOOD ran on for 2nd, AMERICAIN ran 3rd but took an age to get going, failed to reach Redwood by a necek. It was a slow gallop, definitely on the slow side. Great turn of foot by the St. Leger winner. Crystal Capella pulled outside the lead and faded.

    Incredible..
JJ THE JET PLANE noses ROCKET MAN to win the Sprint. SACRED KINGDOM was around 3/4 a length behind… he seems to have lost his sizzling sprint, and emptied out over the concluding stages. LET ME FIGHT a distant but brave 4th.

Local favorite ABLE ONE scratched at the barriers due to lameness.

BEAUTY FLASH sat in a nice handy spot and won by a length. ROYAL BENCH flashed home from last for second in front of SAHPRESA 3rd after a tough 3 wide trip, and A SHIN FORWARD and RAJSAMAN who dead heated for 4th. PACO BOY 3 to 4 wide at the tail and was ruined by the dawdling pace.

Very disappointing for a number of reasons. Able One usually has a length or so on Beauty Flash, and horses like Thumbs Up (who has internal bleeding issues) tend to have his measure too… let alone HK superstars like the old Good Ba Ba.

Absolutely sizzling run by SNOW FAIRY to nab IRIAN in the last strides to win the Cup! The leader PACKING WINNER battled on very well to nip 3rd from VISION D’ETAT, who got further back than usual and had to hook wide. That being said SNOW FAIRY outsprinted him but Vision D’Etat was surprisingly far back.

Planteur close-up, as well as Super Satin, who was unlucky not to grab 3rd after getting a cheap run.

Those sectionals are incredible, they really crawled in that sprinting the last 2 furlongs in 22.93, so to come from second last Snow Fairy must have run something incredible.

Awesome year from Ryan Moore, the Arc, two Oaks, Derby, HK Cup, not to mention the HK and Japan jockey challenges. Brilliant jock and he was bursting out of his skin after that win, great to see

Snow Fairy ran 21.97 in the final 2 furlongs. That’s faster than any sprinter or miler today. The last horse to do that in a HK distance race is Presvis (on a yielding track). So we’re looking at a filly who can sit midfield and unleash a Presvis turn-of-foot, and run well over 12 furlongs. She must have progressed because Midday beat her comprehensively and it’s hard to see any horse beating Snow Fairy now.

The best thing is that she’ll be racing again in 2011, as will Workforce, as will Cape Blanco.

I’d love to see them take each other – and the best of this year’s two-year-olds – on in the Eclipse and Arc.

So don't run, just like the others always do

I always thought that Mastery was as good as (or even better than) Cavalryman or Cutlass Bay. His victory was acquired so easily. By the way, he has made some huge progress during the year and he could be a legitimate contender in next Dubai World Cup following what he has progressively achieved throughout the year.

In the Cup, Vision d’Etat didn’t won because the opposition was stronger this year than the last one. He produced his value, nothing more.
Snow Fairy really was amazing. That’s the 3YO filly of the year, for sure! 2 Oaks, QEIICup, HK Cup. No one among the 3YO have done better than her.

I’m really sad concerning Paco Boy. He didn’t deserve to end his career on a such dull performance…
