Bit suprised there isnt a thread for this, what with Collection (ex-Haggas Royal Ascot winner) being top of the market for this.
Can this race provide another Viva Pataca? Collection does seem to be a very warm order for this race but I’m going against the grain by fancying the Soumillon-ridden Thumbs Up with Mr Medici fancied for a place at a bigger price.
Collection might very well hack up here but at the prices I feel Thumbs Up is worth a punt.
Heres the field:
Collection 8/11
Kings Falcon 15/2
Thumps Up 11/2
Unique Jewellery 13/2
More Bountiful 12/1
Roma Pegasus 25/1
Legend Of Colour 33/1
Galaxy Treasure 100/1
Mr Medici 66/1
Beauty Forever 66/1
Plan Ex 33/1
Vigor Delight 50/1
Quick Touch 100/1
Above All 100/1Cue MDeering or someone else with a bit more knowledge about the HK Racing scene

March 22, 2009 at 04:28 #217803Save your money Dan and watch the exhibition.
The only Oz books offering a Derby market gave me 2/1 prior to his second start, and I dug in very deeply.
Now it’s payday.
Needless to say, this horse will be superior to Viva Pataca or Vengeance Of Rain at their prime.
In a market w/o Collection, I would back Unique Jewellery.

This was nothing but a one-horse race.

March 24, 2009 at 02:23 #218119Thats two years in a row for an ex newmarket horse by Peintre Celbre, i gather collection has temprement issues (he tries too eat the competition).
March 24, 2009 at 04:21 #218126Indeed.
He wanted to savage the horses next to him in the barrier at the start prior to the Derby, and was frothing at the mouth in the parade ring on Derby day.
