Won the Chester Vase in tremendous style and then broke down after the line. It was a catastrophic breakdown of his off fore leg. Just awful to see. He was an absolute beauty. RIP.
May 8, 2024 at 15:56 #1693500Very very sad to see that.

May 8, 2024 at 15:58 #1693501It’s sickening and racehorses keep being killed on the flat, where deaths should be very rare.
The bha has to improve conditions.
Was it the artificial ground on the crossing?
Is the ground too firm for a tight track?
Hidden Law was a beautiful athlete. RIPMay 8, 2024 at 16:04 #1693504It looked like it happened going over the road crossing, I’ve seen plenty of breakdowns on them crossings at lots of different tracks. Maybe something the BHA need to look into ?
May 8, 2024 at 16:06 #1693505Well handled by Richard Hoiles.

May 8, 2024 at 16:09 #1693506It certainly did happen around the point of the artificial ground.
He was slowing right down and it just went. Watching his turn of foot in the last furlong I was in awe of his fantastic display and then to see that happen was just devastating.
He didn’t even race as a two year old so he’d certainly been given time to mature. He looked something really special. I honestly feel sick right now.

May 8, 2024 at 16:27 #1693510Glad I never watched any racing poor boy didn’t deserve that 😭

May 8, 2024 at 16:39 #1693513Not the biggest horse but compact, powerful looking and kinda terrier-like.
Three lengths down in second turning into the straight. Three lengths in front passing the winning line easing down.
Condolences to everyone connected to him.God bless his soul.
May 8, 2024 at 16:55 #1693517Brutal to watch; makes you wonder if racing is worth it
May 8, 2024 at 17:05 #1693518Very sad to hear the news. He was so impressive when quickening up the straight, you rarely see that kind of acceleration at Chester.
I was never a fan of the road crossings at any tracks. There were quite a few NH injuries and fatalities when horses encountered the brief change of ground.
May he rest in peace
May 8, 2024 at 17:14 #1693521A lovely looking little horse – standing in the stalls between the big Coolmore horses he looked no more than a pony, but when Buick pulled him out to get after the front runner he really took off. What a pity.
May 8, 2024 at 18:01 #1693524What a terrible tragedy after he had won his race, poor poor boy. I came home late and was going to watch Chester racing tonight, now I have deleted it all just feel sick and sad at the moment.
I just can’t remember a sadder two weeks in racing and if the road crossing was to blame then I hope they do something about it PDQ.💔 RIP Hidden Law 💔
Things turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...May 8, 2024 at 18:20 #1693528I thought he had stumbled but Hoiles was quicker to spot it than me. Best thing Jac it wasn’t nice to see.

May 8, 2024 at 21:38 #1693540I’ve been out all day and have only just caught up with watching the racing on itv catch-up, thankfully itv have edited it so the tragic incident was not shown.
Absolutely horrendous for all connections.
Beautiful horse and he won the race so well.
Heartbreaking loss.
RIP Hidden LawMay 8, 2024 at 22:17 #1693547Probably as distressing as it gets. Lovely performance from a very appealing individual.
