I think Argentina will qualify for the next round after their match against Nigeria tonight.
I know they have looked like Hamilton Accies on a bad day at times (and I’m an Accies fan)
but I think they are going to come out all guns blazing and I think there’s money to be made
here. They are bottom of their group with 1 point and -3 goal difference. To qualify they have
to beat Nigeria, who are on 3 points and have a 0 goal difference. So they have to beat Nigeria
by 2 clear goals to be above them. In the other group match, if Croatia draw or better against
Iceland then Iceland are out. I think Croatia are good enough not to be beaten by Iceland so it’s
all down to the Argentina/Nigeria match as to who goes through with them.I think 2-0 at 15/2 or 3-0 at 11/1 will be the score. I’m going to have a stab at both. For a
safer bet, in the handicap betting I think Argentina -1 at 6/4 looks very solid. They will
have to play considerably better than when they were humped 3-0 by Croatia, but they have
some world class players in their team, not least being Messi and Aguero. They are going to have
to step up to the plate, but with Aguero being 30 and Messi 31, this could be their last chance
on the world stage. I’m convinced they will get through, and I’ve taken a wee bit more (having taken
them at 10/1) at 25/1 just in case they pull it off.My other pair, Belguim (11/1) and Uruguay (33/1) are doing well at this point.

They can beat Nigeria 1-0 and be above them as Nigeria will still be on 3 points whilst Argentina will be on 4 if they win. But goal difference is still going to be crucial to them as if Iceland win and Argentina win they will both be on 4 points

I don’t know why I was adding 2 points on to them to be level with
Nigeria and therefore the goal difference would have been crucial. I
still think they will win, probably 2-0, and get through to the next
stage, but I could have cut down the above bluster to “I think Argentina
will win, probably 2-0 or 3-0”. I’m going to go and have a lie down in a
darkened room now, what on earth was I on about

I backed them at 2-0 Nathan, once I realised the goal difference wasn’t really important,
so that went down the pan, but I did have a double on with Argentina and Croatia so that
was okay although both left it bloody late. I agree you can’t rule the Argies out, but the
way they are playing I’m not convinced they are up to it. Still, I’ve got them at 10s and 25s
now, so at least I’m still in the hunt
Cracking game Nathan, but why did they have Aguero sitting on the bench
for most of the game, he made a difference to Argentina up front when he
came on, he was a threat. France deserved to win without doubt, they look
a good team and are best priced 9/2 now.I think the manager doesn’t have a clue to be honest BigG and over the tournament that headless chicken approach seemed to translate itself onto the field in amongst the moments of class that they process.

Only one of that lot have actually won it before, obviously in 1966 and only one other has reached a final (Sweden 1958). Only Brazil and France have recently won the WC and France was 20 years ago on their home turf. Uruguay have won twice but back in the “proper leather football” days. The hosts have nearly always done well in World Cups.
Therefore it’s all coming back to Brazil who will IMO play the hosts in the final and with Putin in attendance who knows what will happen
