Neptune Collonges is banker material to gain revenge over Exotic Dancer and take this comfortably before taking his deserved place in the Gold Cup.
Exotic Dancer would have beaten him last time, had Neptune stood up
and he will beat him again, hopefully without the over exagerated waiting tactics this time!…………..this comment is just like in goldcup every1 sayin denman wouldent av one if kato was on best form gwilson,,,,,,,,,,,,,, so nipper did so case closed.!! see this time, nipper in topform apparently … so as long as he comes home safe x

Who"s everyone thats saying that then? or did you write the above after one too many Shandys! for the record i believe Kauto ran a bit flat last year
but i still think Denman is 3l too good for him at their best!February 5, 2009 at 01:42 #208211Regardless of whether he would, or wouldn’t, have won against Neptune Collonges in the Lexus, as a hold-up horse Exotic Dancer would have been favoured by the lack of a stamina test.
With the heavier ground, and The Listener more likely to keep his feet and tow them along, I don’t think ED will get near NC in this one. I’m aware that ED has one in the bag over NC on heavy ground, but the latter is a much better horse now, and imo, the better stayer.I do not see how a hold up horse that struggles to settle early on would be suited by a slow pace as you are suggesting ED would be.
February 5, 2009 at 02:10 #208214This is the ‘No Bet’ race of the season for me.

Geez Becks
I would hate to read one of your Texts!February 5, 2009 at 03:54 #208231Pot meets kettle!
February 5, 2009 at 04:01 #208232Pot meets kettle!

The Pot says Exotic the Kettle says Neptune! The pot reaches boiling
point much slower than the kettle, which can boil over quickly and sometimes spill over! just like our horses!February 5, 2009 at 05:01 #208247Track currently unraceable according to Turf Club website. Rain forecast for Sunday too.

Aidan
I hardly think he "struggles to settle".
Seasonal debuts apart, (when any horse is entitled to run fresh), he has been held for a late run in every race since his Paddy Power victory 2.5 years ago, with the one exception of the 07 King George when it was deliberate policy to take on Kauto Star.
In each of his last 3 runs last season (including that KG) when he has had to use his speed early to keep in the race, he has failed to last home, much like he probably will on Sunday, given the likely good pace and stamina-sapping ground that was lacking in the Lexus.February 5, 2009 at 06:19 #208253I do not see how a hold up horse that struggles to settle early on would be suited by a slow pace as you are suggesting ED would be.

The faster they go, the better he jumps and settles. Ground is not an issue with this horse either.I’ve followed this bugger closely for the last 3 years and he definetly takes a pull if the race isn’t run at a good pace. Infact, I’ve never seen the horse totally settle and it’s testament to his talent that he”s won the sort of races he has.
He took a pull in the Lexus but not as much as previously (Haydock) and AP was always looking to tuck in behind whoever he could. He’d have travelled on the bridle for another mile if he had to that day!Infact, I’d go as far as to say that currently, wiith a good gallop assured and with conditions to suit, I couldn’t confidently back anything to beat him at the present. He’s thriving IMO.

Fair enough, that’s your view, it wouldn’t be mine
Hopefully we’ll see Sunday (or early next week?), let’s hope they all keep their feet, then we’ll know.February 5, 2009 at 17:32 #208303Will Exotic Dancer be rerouted to the Aon? ….should it take place.
February 5, 2009 at 20:29 #208331Neptune will do for me . Settle a few arguments
February 5, 2009 at 20:36 #208332I’d say the meeting is very doubtful to go ahead now. Heavy snow all afternoon in Dublin.

Hope they meet someday…somewhere!

What do you reckon to Thyne Again? Not just for this, but for the GC. The horse has never run over 3m before. The trainer has said that the horse’s best distance is 2m4f, but the horse will stay 3m. Has entries in the QM, Ryanair and GC. If the horse is exposed (is he?) as only being in the 150s at the lower distances, shouldn’t they go down the 3m+ route?
Is the safe, boring thing to do just to have a small bet here, and the Ryanair?

I`ve been waiting 30 years for a horse like this. – Liam Burke, trainer25 Oct 08 Naas 16Sft/Hy,RPR151)
That`s a sigh of relief. He jumped brilliant and looked back to himself. He idled a bit in the straight but was in front a long time. Two-and-a-half miles is probably his ideal trip and we`ll see how he gets on in Punchestown but he could step up to three-miles yet and I have no doubt he`ll stay, but if it`s not broken why fix it. -Liam Burke, trainer27 Dec 08 Leopardstown(17Y/Sft ,RPR154)
It was stop start with him for a good few weeks which didn’t help so in the circumstances he ran a blinder and should improve from that. Shay Barry, jockey - AuthorPosts
